I love a lot of the Bama guys so to the good ones, don’t take this the wrong way but lmfao at y’all crying about officiating when you’ve been propped up by this league for fucking decades. You’re still gonna win the league, and that loss won’t hurt you at all. Yes, we got a favorable whistle. The refs were awful. Y’all played like shit. We had a good strategy and took key shooters out of the game the best we could. That almost screwed us at the end of the first half. All of this is true. I literally don’t give a shit about your tears tonight though, you have no idea what it’s like to have your hearts ripped out by bullshit calls, so spare us with the meaningless loss in the regular season with a 2 game conference lead. You’re still dancing, a top 2-3 seed in the tourney, and will win the conference title. Wish the game was cleaner, but SEC refs need an overhaul. Work that REC magic for us, please.
Tv teddy. I watched him fuck you guys in Memphis in 96 or 97. Slammed the ball on the baseline while Nolan had the team in a huddle and then called 5 secs
Sorry that a game I was looking forward to as much as that was ruined by the refs. Glad it didn't end with a fight. Got real chippy toward the end
Wow, that was fucking awful. We didn’t play well; and missed a lot of shots but god damn that was a lot of fouls. Both teams were in the bonus like 8 minutes into the first half. The league should be ashamed of themselves for allowing that type of officiating, especially in the biggest game of the year in primetime.
What sport are we talking about here? I know it sure as hell cant be basketball because we havent been good enough for it to matter in a long time. And I hate to ruin the narrative but the data doesnt support it in football either despite everyone’s eagerness to reach for that excuse The refs tonight were objectively awful. A 35 shot free throw discrepancy is officially the largest in league history. Some of it was self inflicted on our part, but not by a wide enough margin to cause that gap. We also didn’t play well, but I think its fair to say we had no real shot of winning with the other team shooting that many more FTs. I dont think any of us are saying we would have won with a more even split on FTs, but it would have been nice to at least have a legitimate chance of winning Call it crying if you want, but I think objectively most would agree
haha get rekt Bama. Don’t shoot a million threes and foul every time down the floor and you’ll have better results.
Fair post. As I said, we got a favorable whistle. Y’all also had a lot of dumbass fouls that were clearly fouls. We absolutely got away with a couple no calls at the rim that should have been fouls. Petty's one at the rim where he got upset he hit the bottom of the padding on the backboard and lost the ball. There was contact afterward but he didn’t have the ball. I’d be pissed if I were y’all too. Until the league addresses this shit this is what we deal with. The home team gets an insanely favorable whistle or the higher ranked teams (usually UK and UF) get them regardless of venue. I wish there wasn’t controversy tonight, but I still think the team that played better tonight won. We should’ve shot better from the FT line and won by 30 tbh
I was at that game too at the pyramid. Tubby was coming on the scene and had a good Georgia team that was the opposing team in that game
We should settle who is best in a tournament. I want you to know that I hope nothing good happens to any of you in college sports ever again. God Bless.
Still chuckling that really ended up being the biggest SEC primetime game this year, nobody saw that coming
Let's forget about how Bama goes an entire football season with only 3 offensive holding calls, and maybe 4 defensive holding calls. They're beyond pampered.
Wait a minute. People actually think that refs give Alabama football favorable calls? maybe you all should take a look at the holding calls against other teams when playing Alabama. Might be interested to learn we typically rank in the high 120s
I remember a couple of years ago, the announcers were talking about how they didn't get a holding call until the 6th or 7th game. They then went on to talk about what a great Oline coach they had, and how the kids had obviously bought in to the system. Yeah, that's what it was.
So you are telling us that your perception of officiating bias in the conference is entirely based on a memory from some unspecified broadcast where an announcer made a vague comment regarding a 6 game stretch in an unspecified year where you have no context of any other penalties called against the team. I dunno, seems like you might want to take a moment to reflect on that.
I'm not going to speak on whether the refs favor one team over another on a regular basis. But in terms of not giving the benefit of the doubt to certain teams, Arkansas has been fucked by the refs so many times over the years that having a game so stupidly one-sided in our favor won't make me feel too terrible for our opponent. It happens once a decade where the refs forget their jobs and show favoritism to us. Ultimately, Bama is likely to be a 1 or 2 seed in the NCAAT anyway, and this loss will be a blip.
I do appreciate that Oats took that path and left the bitching and moaning to us fans. I think he learned a lot from his Coach K comments early in the season.
Sure it sucks to lose, and Bama played poorly no doubt. I just hate that what should’ve been a really good game was mired by officiating, the SEC needs to tell these guys to put their whistles in their pockets, and let them play some.
...it was the biggest FT differential in the SEC in like a decade We were losing regardless but this is not something that happens to that extent all the time
Idk about regardless. Bama made more FGs than Slaw, including 7 more threes. Lost by 16. Slaw had 27 pts from the stripe. If that game is called more evenly, it probably is a much tighter game Good thing it was a relatively meaningless game for bama.
I mean we did foul more, in my opinion. But not that much more. I still think we would have lost the way we played but I hope we get to find out soon
