yes that is why I asked and was confused by what the article said. Please don’t take my question as an attempt to minimize or justifying what the cops did. I was simply confused by what I read and was wondering if I missed something or if that was about someone else.
this makes a lot more sense and obviously what I missed. If I knew it was the reporter quoting the cops i wouldn’t have asked. I thought it was the reporter’s interpretation of the video and that’s why I wondered what I missed.
Cornfed Buffalo apparently the guys was carrying two guns. Nevada is an open carry state and the family’s lawyer have said he was but it wasn’t illegal “that he was practicing his first and second amendment rights “.
Just read that Vanessa Bryant is (rightfully) all up in LASO's shit because they're fighting to redact the names of the officers that were taking and sharing pics of the bodies
That's a PR battle that the LASO has no chance of winning. They may say fuck it anyways bc they care more about a few employees that did wrong than the grieving spouse of a god-like figure in the city but woo boy the public will be livid if Vanessa comes out hard against them.
Republicans: We’re the party of small government Republicans regarding stop and frisk: If you have nothing to hide then you should have no problem being stopped. Also republicans: If you film cops doing their job in public we’ll arrest you.
Unbelievable. Actually it is, but damn. The father had to watch his mentally ill child be murdered bc the cop got tired of struggling with him.
It'll be interesting to see how the Sheriff handles this. He ran on a platform of transparency. I have my doubts if that ends up being the case here.
It's awful that I even have to ask this, but was the cop black? I couldn't tell. I could totally see a black cop being thrown under the bus in Alabama.
I couldn't tell, either. The county is predominantly white, but I do know that they have some black deputies.
I talked to the DA in a nearby county today, and he said that he doesn't see how the deputy doesn't get charged.
That was tough to watch. Why was the cop there? Was the mentally ill man being violent to family? That shit happens, happened with a friend of mine who was diagnosed with schizophrenia and attacked family. And what is the best solution damn... certainly not fucking shooting them... just get them cuffed and get them put into a hospital to get help.
He was clearly mentally ill and struggled walking. He was no threat if the officers were 10 feet away. That's a clear example as to why we need less armed police and more people skilled for that situation. The cop had zero patience to de-esculate and rather just shot him when his life was not in danger at all. It may have taken more than 2 minutes to resolve the situation but there were options available that didn't include shooting the homeless mentally in man looking for food.
She won. Vanessa Bryant wins case to obtain names of deputies who allegedly took photos of crash site https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/09/us/vanessa-bryant-kobe-crash-deputies-trnd-spt/index.html Attorneys for the LASD and Los Angeles County wanted to keep the deputies' names and ranks sealed, arguing that "hackers may attempt to seek out and gain access to the individual deputies' devices to locate any photographs and publish them," according to court documents. U.S. District Judge John F. Walter said in a ruling on Monday that this is "totally inconsistent with their position that such photographs no longer exist."
