The Killers record ain't great (Sorry for sullying the indie thread with mainstream alt, don't think there's really a discussion thread for that)
Good question, like for real, but maybe it just sounds like others. Did they re record an older song?
dont think Ive seen it mentioned in the thread, but the notwist album that came out a few weeks ago is really good.
I use this thread as kind of a catch all for genres that don't have specific threads, or at least active ones, even if they're not necessarily "indie" so no worries
Cornelius Suttree is my closest soulmate in this thread. I like pretty much everything he recommends. I'm more on the rock end of things than the folk end of things. Love getting suggestions from everybody though. Some good music tastes ITT
Priests released Nothing Feels Natural over four years ago. Time flies when you're headbanging to sweet punk rock
I'd say I personally prefer the rock end of things as well. There just hasn't been a ton that perfectly hits that sweet spot for me recently. SC probably most frequently posts stuff I dig. He seems to really love the music making ladies like I do.
Lucy Dacus just teased a song called “Thumbs” on Instagram that she performed live a handful of times in 2018 and 2019 (mostly on the boygenius tour I think but I also saw her perform it at a one off SVE Nilufyer Yanya bill in early 2019 too). I cannot overstate how stoked I am for this to get an official release. The song has been in the back of my mind since seeing it performed, and you can’t find the audio anywhere.
For those of you who have Sirius, JB did a sessions yesterday that is really solid. This is her cover of Radiohead.
I saw her when she released her first album. She opened for Car Seat Headrest at the Bowery Ballroom. I loved that album, but my wife and my friends weren't very interested (at the time). I thought she was great.
I was stuck on No Age album from last year for a bit. In terms of this year I'd saw my favorite thing is TV Preist. Came across them last year, two EPs and they ended up on some random playlist. If I would not have followed them I'd have no idea they even released an album. Anyhow, really dig them.
I don’t know if any of you guys like Billie Eilish, but this documentary that just came out is pretty amazing.
I put it on just for background while I was waiting for my wife to get home. Thought it would just be some music. It’s literally just following her on camera from before she was even famous and it show her experiencing fame and how she reacts. Super vulnerable, real, personal, family connection, disabilities and vulnerabilities, and just very touching all around. Also, some good performances mixed. My favorite parts are when she meets celebrities who went through similar trajectories and watching them connect. It's like watching Hoop Dreams or a similar movie, but where the person being followed just wins everything (at least at the point where it ends).
I haven't listened to much new stuff lately. I'm changing that now. I just went through and added all the recommendations that were more rock front. Any must listen to 2021 albums?
The one that got me the most is the No Age album from last year. Nothing this year has been remarkable for me yet but I’m definitely a late Larry.
I read your comment about them earlier and was going to add them but the OCD? or whatever in me wouldn't let me add it because I titled it 2021 new albums. Yes I know I'm weird. I'll listen to it though. So far I've enjoyed Kiwi Jr., King Gizz is always good, and The Hold Steady.
