Lumberjack match so let’s see Truth get confused and think it’s a 24/7 title match and attack Miz and get Lashely DQed
Oh it was horrible in every way. Watching Raw pretty much is dumb at this point. But I do it so it’s on me.
So in 2 weeks .. Riddle beats Lashley. Then Riddle loses to Ali. Lashley immediately becomes super-human unstoppable force. Miz beat McIntyre for title. Then Miz loses squash match to new superhuman Lashley.
Riddle didn't beat Lashley though. Lashley dominated the match and Riddle pinned the 3rd man in the match. Lashley has been a beast for a while on raw. He's been booked well. And Riddle lost to Ali after already wrestling a match and from distraction
That was a very very old school wrestling booking, with a transitional champ handing the title over to a guy suddenly thrust to the top of the promotion. It's the kind of thing that doesn't much happen in the TV/monthly PPV focused world of wrestling today
Hard to call it a war when most wrestling fans like both products and one wins almost every head to head ratings matchup.
And when one company is going the developmental brand of the other. Whole "war" thing was just fans hoping to relive Nostalgia when wrestling was super popular. A company battling the C brand of wwe for 3rd highest rated program is hardly that. I dont think either program treated it like a war ether in the past months. Bold prediction, neither rating is effected much by NXT moving. Don't see both products getting a boost or dropping
They will both get a little boost as people who had to chose which to watch live are able to now watch both shows but it won’t be major
Eric Bischoff had a good perspective on this during his podcast. It's not a war because neither program are pushing each other to be better and neither are bringing in new fans. This is good for both AEW and NXT. Hopefully both get more viewers and eyes on them because they are the best thing in wrestling right now. And people should embrace both and not pick sides.
I'll disagree on your last point: AEW at least will get a big boost. Whenever they ran unopposed, they scored big numbers. I think this is the year they rise above a million (and stay there).
We'll see, but I doubt it. And the quick research I did shows AEW unopposed ratings that I could find they did 900k, 774k, 928k, 813k and 755k Those are in line or slightly above what they normally do. Not sure that's a "big boost" Nothing aew has done has shown they are growing an audience so not sure where the new audience comes from getting them over a million consistently. If anything they are losing viewers. Mid November to December they averaged 861k viewers and hit 900k or more 3 of those 7 weeks. Seems to be their peak since early on before they dropped a bunch of viewers after they started. In the new year they are averaging 771k, almost 100k less and haven't hit 900k this year, only hit 850k once.
I hope this boosts both their ratings but I'm not expecting it to other than maybe slightly. NXT despite how well it ever does I don't think can shake off the developmental label to get a large enough fan base beside hard-core fans. And aew has a hard core loyal fan base but has shown no ability to attract any new fans to their product. I may end up being wrong, won't be the first time, but I dont think this move effects ratings as much as people think it will
I also don't know if its awful that neither program improves ratings drastically. Because I think the shit the companies would do to pop ratings would be things the core audience of those shows dislikes. I dont think there are enough wrestling hard-core fans out there to give a show huge ratings. So enjoy the programs as they are as long as the ratings don't dip so low that it could effect their network deal.
Yeah that was way better than it had any business being. Props on Shaq taking a table spot and although she is green Cargill is a star.
Formerly Eli Drake. Cut from WWE a few years ago. Got over on the indys and Impact. Very charismatic guy and good wrestler. Of course he comes back and WWE going to WWE.
How you going to compare someone who is green to possibly one of the best women's wrestler at the moment? Also Big Show apparently teased that AEW has a hall of fame level performer joining. If it's not Punk, Brock, or Cena, they are setting people up for disappointment (unless I'm missing some huge name whose availabile)
It depends on how literal you get with what Show said. If it’s truly a guy who is HOF worthy, it wouldn’t be Angle. Who knows what he truly meant though.
