Some friends of mine (30yo) were able to get vaccinated at the Kroger in Vinings (they told me there was a surplus and they let anyone get it). Maybe try calling them and getting scheduled if you guys are interested.
That seems shady. I'd be interested in how they were able to randomly find this out. We're 49th in vaccine distribution %, I don't doubt there is surplus
Did they just randomly walk up to the Kroger pharmacy and ask if they had any that were going to go to waste, or did they know someone that worked there?
Pharmacies have gotten doses and they have to be used once unfrozen and if people in the current age group don’t show up they’re free to anyone who will use them before they have to dump them. They can’t be refrozen is my understanding
See this shit really pisses me. There should be waiting lines at pharmacies or create a fucking app that notifies anyone within a certain radius to sign up now if you're free. It's going to be amazing when this shit comes out that we've destroyed a gross quantity of vaccines because the 1a group was too fucking restrictive
To my knowledge theyre just calling and asking. There isn’t any communication going out to citizens. I don’t disagree with your point except I don’t think the first group was too restrictive. I think there’s just a large amount of that group not accepting them. A lot of this has to do with people’s a)incorrect fear of vaccines or b)believe COVID isn’t a big deal and therefore won’t be taking a vaccine thats 100% free
And they need to move on form 1a or whatever. It's still to restrictive we have 1,000,000 doses rotting on a shelf
https://www.publix.com/covid-vaccine/booknow You can sign up to get them at Publix now. Booked mine this morning.
You’re able to register at www.myvaccinegeorgia.com and should be alerted when you’re grouping is eligible/there are surpluses
Girlfriend just booked vaccine appointments for me and her on March 10th for 1st dose out in Mableton. Link below, said she had to refresh a couple times over a few hours until a good appt opened up https://www.publix.com/covid-vaccine/booknow
are you eligible? again, they are going to turn you away if you show up without proof; including a photo of a care-receiver's vaccination card.
Like an hour before the pharmacy closes I'm assuming? Going to start calling Murder and Hipster Kroger's pharmacies every day just in case they've had surplus.
Yea I know of both the Government-run sites and privates sites turning people away. Does not matter how close to eligibility. the best way to get a vaccine right now is to be eligible or get on a Standby list at a private distributor (Walgreens, CVS, etc). and not in Atlanta proper. (who knows if they are following rules in the rural areas with vaccine skepticism but before going that route I would at least give our Teachers a week or two to get their shots since they are forced to be teaching in-person).
Man... That's pretty shitty, to be last in distribution as a state, yet we still turn people away on the fringe of eligibility.
Teachers and Educational staff mostly. Also some people with acute disabilities (and their caregivers).
They don't ask for proof. Had a friend go today under the elderly caretaker qualification and they didn't even ask for a drivers license. Just name and birthday -> Shot
Fayette County is doing all district teachers that want it next Thursday. Apparently a lot of people turned it down so they've opened it up to community coaches too. Also.. Rural areas aren't making you prove anything in terms of care giver in my experience. Know 4 people that have gotten it that way.
I know for a fact that Fulton County asks for the vaccination card of the 65+ age person for whom you are claiming. The card lists the person's birthdate. Idk why you think Id bullshit.
I'm not saying you're bullshitting I'm telling you there are differing experiences. Person today said they didn't ask her for anything
Yea I think ATL proper will have far more restrictions than outside. Especially more rural areas they’ll just give them to anyone who will take them. Probably that way all over the country
I'm seeing a lot of mix stories on reddit. This is in Atlanta. Some places ask, some places don't. Some places just ask questions and you verify.
I know of one instance where they had the person call the person receiving "care" for confirmation. So certainly you can circumvent the rules. But my point was Id exercise caution that just because Publix is allowing you to register does not mean they will not turn you away.
Yeah agree. 2nd friend got his today and they just asked for his DL. No proof. I'm in the fence solely bc Kemp and GA are doing such and awful job
Walgreens for sure is a place that does the standby option in the event of cancellations. Some will still want you to otherwise be eligible, but other locations dont care. Just a matter of their inventory. But again, look for Walgreens in red parts of the state.
Drove all the way out to Dunwoody to see what all the fuss is about with NFA Burger. Cousin swears by it, says it’s the best burger in ATL. EDIT: Can confirm. Albert’s Diner Burger used to be my fav fwiw.
I had it a few months ago and wasn't impressed. May have been a bad day or a weird lock down menu. They didn't have anything that looked like the burgers on the guys Twitter.
The only times I’ve ever bet on college football were in Vegas, but if I could fire in bets on Saturdays like my brother in Tennessee can, I’d be happy to give my money away to the state.
First day I moved here I fired up my FanDuel account only to realize it wasn’t legal here. It’s so much fun betting that easily on games. Such a ridiculous stance to continue to limit sportbooks
Whenever I see how much better the betting interface and options are on the legal stuff like DK sportsbook it has me jealous. Only a matter of time now. Just hoping they don't require it to go thru Constitution Amendment + the ensuing christian coalition litigation that the Lottery does not have grounds for sports betting is short and swift.
I'm confused by this. They are trying to send a measure to the voters to ban sports betting? The tweet doesn't make sense, why would voters vote to continue banning something?
Tried to hit homegrown Sunday but it was packed. Got right in at fox brothers. Haven't been in a while so I yolod. Getting at least 5 meals out of this spread.
