Manchin said very few if any states have minimum wage at $7.5 as if they are voluntarily going above that so Bernie's plan is a bit too much Georgia's is at $5.15 lmao
I've never heard of NewsNation and I won't be watching. But I'm imaging the level of delusion the CEO of Al Jazeera America had believing they would be perceived as neutral
30-40 million people are making 7.50 or below but we should believe some bitch boy millionaire senator over numbers
it does sound like a red line for him with the GOP is $11. Everyone needs to be at $11 and then index it, but he can be convinced to go higher. So perhaps the faux populist cause him to say fuck it and do filibuster reform with that.
Haha I actually had not until 30 minutes ago when I looked into it and was like “oh hey this song slaps.”
At least Manchin has said what his thinking was. It might not hold up to much scrutiny especially when his worry is that a $15 minimum wage would be unfair to people in San Francisco or New York. You represent West Virginia. Grab that bag a money and run, buddy. Need to get those other shit birds on the record.
Jonathan Swan’s interview of Graham was really good on Axios tonight. Graham said a lot of the quiet parts out loud. Axios like every other news outlet does some dumb shit, but I appreciate that their reporters actually ask real questions and press the people when they’re full of shit.
Yea, hopefully its just so they can shrug their shoulders and say ‘we tried to work together but they wanted to hurt Americans so we went on our way helping people’ Ive seen the phrase ‘bi-partisan support from the American people’ and ‘bi-partisan public support’ thrown around which I think is wise, painting the R senators as in opposition to the american people, which they are
Haha, yea actually the red bars are better because 65% can do 4 trickle downs while only 11% can do 4 trickle downs in the rescue plan. Checkmate, libs
"Before we start trying" is probably the key word there. He said the same shit about this bill. Although fuck democrats for this messaging that we "need" to include people who won't vote for anything.
They're going to run the same play before every bill. I'd quit paying attention to what they say in the media tbh
This guy is just madly in love with the idea of centrist politics and has never once considered the realities of the world. He has no opinion on whether things are good or bad, only that there is a mix of letters that say R and some say D on something. I think his brain stopped developing at age 7.
We don't seem to be very good at addressing problems as a nation anymore. Infrastructure, healthcare, climate, immigration, etc. All too hard, so we just kick the can down the road.
It makes me think a little of an inkling of an idea I had last week, about how Rs were adding amendments to the Covid bill. It’s like, if you get an amendment you wrote passed onto a bill, your vote should be a mandatory locked in yes. Your amendment should be “add this and I’m in.” Instead, it’s spaghetti thrown at the wall and then zero R votes.
"Do I think that preventing the planet from becoming uninhabitable is a good idea? More specifically, do I believe my states economy will continue to be ravaged if we aren't proactive about the dying coal industry? Well, that depends on what the people who have shown to be obstructionist assholes at every single opportunity have to say about this. Surely, they'll approach this from a good-faith perspective'
Every thing that R's will add to any bill will make the bill worse and help less people. This continued messaging that we're beat over the head with is awful because they've spent years telling D's to go fuck themselves. All this does is hurt Americans. There's zero benefit to any of it other than to placate cocksuckers in the media who should be grinded up and used as pig feed in the first place. No one gives a fuck about bipartisanship just help people and no one will say a word and they'll remember which party helped them.
Idk there’s a lot of trickle down from that high red bar that isn’t being factored into this. Can’t really trickle up from those small blue bars. Fortunately I know in my heart that trickle down economics work and I won’t stand for just giving poor people money. They’re just going to use it on drugs and alcohol and phones and TVs.
And that's the problem with the messaging. Once again, I don't even think he's the biggest issue. Sinema once again is the real villian, but the messaging that this sends to people is awful. Democrats need to be bolder and "bipartisanship" for the sake of bipartisanship isn't bold nor does it draw people to your cause.
I’m done getting worked up over Manchin. Seems he’s definitely doing what he’s gonna son and will eventually make a relatively good decision.
Agreed. I'm much more comfortable blaming the other 50 motherfuckers whose goal it is to fuck everyone.
I'm not crazy about Manchin and some of the things he's said but he was the 50th vote on a very important piece of legislation that will help a lot of people so I can't be that mad.
If there is anything the past 20 years have taught us, its that You will get your shit pushed in if you dont play by the same set of rules. That is why the Federal Courts look the way they do, the Congressional Lines look the way they do. The GOP started the slippery slope, it is on them to end it.
It was good politics by Trump to do it, regardless of how silly it was. It would be dumb for Biden not to
