I'm the same way which is why I always have to keep a separate playlist called "New" for those albums
I made a playlist meant to be utilized when spending 40 hours in a vehicle over the course of two days. Making it was fun. Never listened to it though because I always just stick to elite albums
For those who don't mind a little mainstream alt in their life ( TC ), the new Kings of Leon album is very enjoyable. Best thing they've put out in a long while.
Because of the Times had a couple songs I liked. Charmer in particular Aha Shake Heartbreak and Youth and Young Manhood were staples at our HS and early college parties. Man I loved KOL back then
I know Only by the Night is when most say they really "sold out", but I unapologetically love that album.
Sex on Fire and Use Somebody played constantly in bars, etc. when I was studying abroad in London so I have some fondness for it. Kind of odd since it was summer 2010 and the album had already been out for almost 2 years.
I lived with a dude that dated 2 different girls that both fucked band members. One fucked the lead singer and the other fucked the bass player. He hated them
The new Big Red Machine song is good. Song feels different than some of their other releases. I really like it.
Went on a ski trip to Colorado, so I finally had a lot of time to listen to new stuff, and I really enjoyed The Hold Steady (didnt expect to like it), Still Corners (always solid), and Goat Girl (but not their 1st one).
This isn’t Andrew Savage as the vocalist? I thought I instantly recognized the voice but I guess not.
It's not. I had never heard of them till I checked my YouTube subs this morning. They're signed to the King Gizzard label Gonna have to check out the debut album later this month
I was watching the new Robin Pecknold Tiny Desk and this Boygenius Tiny Desk popped up afterwards. Probably been posted here, but interesting looking at in retrospect. So many things stand out. Didn't realize Julien Baker was so little, and my god Phoebe Bridgers is just perfect. The fact that these three voices knew to get together and do this was just spectacular in retrospect. I really hope they do another collaboration soon (or ever). This is awesome though.
I had to read the lyrics, my god. It is awful. [Verse 1] You hung up the phone And I asked you what was wrong Your dad has come to town He'd like to meet I said "You don't have to see him" But for whatever reason you can't tell him no [Verse 2] So we meet him at a bar You were holding my hand hard He ordered rum and coke I can't drink either anymore He hadn't seen you since the fifth grade Now you're nineteen and you're five-eight He said "Honey, you sure look great Do you get the checks I send on your birthday?" [Chorus] I would kill him If you let me I would kill him Quick and easy Your nails are digging Into my knee I don't know How you keep smiling [Verse 3] I lovе your eyes And he has thеm Or you have his 'Cause he was first I imagine my thumbs on the irises Pressing in until they burst [Verse 4] I clear my throat And say we ought to get home He offers us a ride I reply "No, that's alright" And when we leave You feel him watching So we walk a mile in the wrong direction [Chorus] I would kill him If you let me I would kill him Quick and easy Your nails are digging Into my knee I don't know How you keep smiling I don't know How you keep smiling I don't know How you keep smiling [Outro] I wanna take your face between my hands and say "You two are connected by a pure coincidence Bound to him by blood, but baby, it's all relative You've been in his fist ever since you were a kid But you don't owe him shit even if he said you did You don't owe him shit even if he said you did"
