The last show I saw was not my first choice, but glad I went in retrospect. Almost exactly a year ago I was invited to see Silversun Pickups. I remember being concerned because it was just when news of the pandemic was spreading and especially in NY. We stood away from everyone else and had little bottles of hand sanitizer. I don't think I went out again until Summer, and I haven't been out to dinner or similar since September. Just got my first vaccine yesterday so really hopeful there will be shows this summer. I think dinner and shows are the two thing is miss the most.
Man, I'm having a hard time remembering what my last show even was. I had tickets to see Andy Shauf and Faye Webster, but it got cancelled. Was really looking forward to that one. Congrats on getting your first shot. GA is finally making it where I'll be eligible starting next Monday, so I'll be getting mine as soon as possible.
Who was it that brought Stagbriar to the thread? SC ? I was just looking at their Spotify page, and it seems like absolutley nobody listens to them. They have 248 monthly listeners, and their most played songs only have a couple thousand plays. I feel like about 20% of those plays are me.
Either me or ashy larry, yeah. They’re great, really a shame they weren’t able to play shows on the new record. They were booked to open for Susto which would’ve been big.
My last show was Ruston Kelly with Natalie Carol of Valley Queen doing a solo opener. Was actually a really great show and cool moment hearing Natalie talk about knowing Ruston when he was strung out and living in a van in Nashville then seeing how far Ruston has come with his life and his music. I remember washing my hands a ton and keeping somewhat of a distance from folks, but that also felt really dumb and paranoid at the time.
alex is one of my best buds. not to toot my own horn but my name is in the liner notes on their first album. ama.
I went to a music festival two weeks before everything got cancelled. The last act was Weezer. Corona was the most widely available beer so there were many jokes about Corona Extra standing for “extra rona.” I almost got in a fight on the light rail. Good times (besides the lead singer from Death Cab walking off the stage after 5 minutes).
One of the other members said his voice wasn’t going to hold up. We all assumed rona, I think they had just played a show near Seattle. My wife was pissed. Seeing them was the whole reason she wanted to go.
Dipping my toes back in the genre, and this is the shit I like. Has a slight Husker Du sound to it, and is punky. Been on a huge Built to Spill kick lately, and they made so much good music.
That’s wild because that was the last show I saw before everything shut down last year. I don’t know if he did a full tour but he definitely did some solo piano shows.
I've been bad at providing context lately. Generally if it's the first single in conjunction with a new album announcement I'll include that info but haven't done so as much recently. This Remember Sports is a follow up to a single SC posted a month ago when they announced a new album
Oh ok thanks. I wasn't sure. I usually like to get the whole album if something new comes out. A lot of times I'll just see the one off song and assume it's just a new single. Thanks for what you do.
Produced by Bartees Strange. I’ve probably listened 7 or 8 times, her music is so easy to ingest. Her album that came out in 2019 is great too.
Heard this on All Songs Considered earlier this week. Went back and revisited their first EP. Big fan.
The EP by Home is Where - I Became Birds - is the most exciting thing I’ve heard in a while. Incredible lol. Want to say it’s once in an every couple years thing that gets people going like this (Foxing in 2018? Glass Beach in 2019?)
