I think it’s more likely that teams don’t want to commit to a 27 year old WR coming off a hip injury.
So he could have signed a multi-year deal at the start of the 2020 season at 15-18M a year and ends up with a 1 year offer. Yikes. He's a good WR but we dodged a bullet there since we're in rebuild mode.
Breer tweeted something yesterday about how "Golladay didn't end on good terms in Detroit" or something when talking about why he didn't think there was anything to him possibly ending up in NYG or NE. I'm assuming that meant there was some kind of issue between him and Patricia/Quinn, given that's the only connection there. But then today the NYG rumors are back so maybe he's just a dumb NE writer who is being fed stuff from those guys on the way out.
I think the simple fact is that the WR is 27 and turning 28, has had 2 healthy seasons in his 4 year career, doesn't have a skill set that projects to bring productive into his 30s and there seem to be a lot of future number 1 receivers in the draft each year. I'd guarantee him $42M over the next 3 years if I can afford it alongside a 1A receiver, but what teams are into that?
We fucked up going all in with Quinn and Patricia last year. Although looking back we probably would have ended up with Tua, so could be blessing in disguise.
I think if Lance is on the board, you gotta take him. Chase would be nice, but WR class is deep, and no point in having a good WR, on shitty team.
Lance going to need a year anyway. If he's there take him and start Goff next year. If Goff plays well, look at what mediocre QB are getting traded for, flip him or Lance and add more picks next year
Every mock I’ve looked at has him available at 8. I think he’s had legal issues which have caused him to drop.
I hear you, but IMO a QB always has to be on the table unless you have a championship caliber guy already.
I think a big reason we hired John Dorsey was to find a QB. He might be the best in the business at it. I’m pretty comfortable if we decide to make a move up for any of these guys knowing he’s involved in the process.
I’m generally against trading up for a QB unless it’s for a day one starter they love and Goff is traded prior to 2022.
Just did a mock with no trades and I'm pretty sure I just won us the Super Bowl 1.7 - Ja'Marr Chase, WR 2.41 - Zaven Collins, LB 3.72 - Tommy Togai, DT 3.88 - Tyson Campbell, CB 4.112 - Walker LIttle, OT 5.153 - Dazz Newsome, WR
