my dogs dna test came back 99% american staffordshire terrier and one little strand is from a fucking whippet
My buddy got a basset pup and Carlos finally got to meet him. I was a little concerned about the difference in energy levels and general intensity. After all of the beers on the patio table were lost to a wrestling crash, no longer concerned.
24 hours ago we were worrying about how they'd do together and now Max is licking slobber from his lips. Cedric has incredible patience with him bc Max is all in his shit and he just chills.
I asked before I saw it was a thing with a couple other people itt. Was wondering if there was a reason besides curiosity. I’d do one for Groot but I’m sure he is 99% dumbass and 1% knucklehead.
Turned around just now and he was laying like this. Has to be bc he spent a lot of time in a kennel, right? And that's why he wanted something to bundle his legs up against? We ordered him one earlier today that we'll just leave the door open on so he has somewhere to go to get away from things but this broke my heart tonight.
Nope Both our saint and also berner likes to lay on the hard wood or kitchen floor bc it’s cooler they would also do the same thing with the legs up against something our berner we bought beds for, expensive ones and she would rather lay on the hard marble by the fireplace (no fire)
Yea the cold floor is something we were used to with Bear. I had just never seen a dog lay up against something with his legs like that. Makes me feel better, maybe he's not used to being locked in a kennel.
I havent had a ton of success crate training, but many good owners do it and swear by it. I wouldn’t necessarily think that if he was doing that from being in a confined space that it’s bad.
Our thought was maybe he'd been in a crate for 23 hours a day or something. He's underweight, has cowered multiple times at things as simple as my wife getting the broom to sweep, and then did that so we probably thought worst case scenario first.
Yes, I didn't bother after the first. That said, I am on a ton of Aussie forums and groups and lots of people do it and swear by it. Mine are way too stubborn. Pic from this morning...
Happy to report Shuri went to previous Pixel adopters and is getting along fabulously with her new sisters. Love that big goof.
Tosu ready for the holiday. He proceeded to bite at it as soon as we got in the car, so he didn't get to show off at daycare today.
Just took Redford and Sky to the groomers for the first time since Summer (our groomer closed down), and they decided to put St. Paddy's bows on them.
Just had to say goodbye to one of my boys today. Only 9 years old. He was his normal self on Sunday and by mid-morning Monday, he was lethargic and wouldn’t eat. Was diagnosed with IMHA on Wednesday, and we had to say goodbye to him this afternoon. He fought hard, but it was time. I’ve never been this sad in my whole life.
Thank you. I know a lot of people on this board have gone through this. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. My wife and I don’t have any kids, and our four dogs have been our whole lives for as long as we’ve had them. My wife is devastated and isn’t taking it well at all. I don’t know what to do to help her. I am hopeful with time that she will be ok, but then I have constant sense of dread that something happens to another one of them soon.
We had to put down my family dog about a month ago. Just try to remember that you gave them the best life they could have possibly had and they knew they were loved. Only time can really help you heal. So sorry man.
My last heeler loved the crate. When I got rid of it when he could be trusted, he used an open closet as his safe spot. Current heeler loves his crate. He automatically goes in it when he sees what shoes I put on and he figures out he’s not coming with me on this trip. He sleeps in it sometimes when he doesn’t have to. It’s all in how you present it. He also goes in it when he knows he fucked up.
Damn sorry to hear that. Losing Bear was the hardest thing I've gone through. I wish I had some secret to tell you that would help but the only thing that helps is time.
Thanks, man. I know it sucks for everyone. I wish I could help my wife get out of her funk, but I know time will help (hopefully).
Bear has been gone 18 months and we still bring him up 2-3 times a week. They are such a big piece of our lives that it's impossible to just move on. If you ask Gracie who my favorite person is, she'll say "Me and Big." She's not wrong. As time goes on, the crying turns to laughing about the good times.
