I'd been searching for a fun summer casual watch for a few months now. My local jeweler is about to become a Lange boutique so I was motivated to buy something from them to "get on the list" for Lange products. I perused the store this weekend and ended up purchasing this. It's fabulous. I love the titanium construction. Perfect size and weight.
I may or may not have a post in here next week. Depends on whether the package arrives before my wife sees the bank statement and murders me. Jorts made me do it. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
Love this, huge fan of this, the chronograph, and bronzes. Never agreed with the pushback about too many lines of text. Perfect summer watch.
I know they cost more than I could afford, but anything with the inner workings exposed just makes me think it’s cheap gimmicky crap.
I meant to post this but never got around to it. Snagged it for myself at Christmas while buying the wife some jewelry. I’ll eventually put it on a bracelet but I’m digging the strap now. Love this thing.
My first vintage watch. I bought this for no other reason than I just love the watch and the brand. Didn't care if it's not a collectible reference or anything. I love it. 1972 Zenith Autosport - 14k gold filled
Almost a year ago (4/3/20) I tracked Rolex prices via Chrono24 for approximately 20 weeks to get a feel of the impact. I kept week-by-week pricing of the 5 lowest priced steel models for each category. I was thinking inventory would go up and prices down a bit, with some bargains being available. I was completely wrong. Here's the market 1 year later: Submariner (no-date) 4/3/20 average price: $6,735 4/2/21 average price: $8,397 Increase: 24.7% Explorer II (black, 40mm) 4/3/20 average price: $5,603 4/2/21 average price: $7,164 Increase: 27.9% GMT Master II (Pepsi) 4/3/20 average price: $9,447 4/2/21 average price: $11.457 Increase: 21.3% GMT Master II (Coke) 4/3/20 average price: $8,968 4/2/21 average price: $10,518 Increase: 17.3% Yacht Master (rhodium dial, red hand) 4/3/20 average price: $6,514 4/2/21 average price: $8,418 Increase: 29.3%
Yeah I was completely wrong about a lot of things over the last year and the watch market is right up there. I expected residential real estate to slow down considerably and it was the opposite.
Rising unemployment and last March we saw some discounts locally....I'm also in Orange County, CA where prices were at record levels last year at this time and shot up again last summer. I was wrong but it was common thought locally. Talked to a real estate agent here in April who was glad at the time he had closed a couple deals in January/February which made his year regardless of what happened the rest of the way.
Average increase looks to be about the same as the M2 money supply. Seems about right. I wonder if the same is true for AP, Patek, etc.
I was only tracking some models I like. There were 2 VC models I tracked and they were both up, but around 8-12% on used prices. Interestingly enough, this didn’t trickle down to other brands. Omega and Tudor held steady over a full year with no big appreciation. This jump was solely in the upper economic groups where money was spent elsewhere instead of trips and other big buys.
My first Seiko since I was a kid and I am not exaggerating when I say that I absolutely love it and I like it more than my Omega all things considered. Not much in the Seiko catalog jumped out to me other than the Willard and the 62MAS, but I'm just not paying over $1k for a watch that by all accounts is worth a little more than half of that. This guy caught my eye a while ago and Macy's had it on sale for like $450 so I pulled the trigger. Dial is gorgeous, lume is as good as advertised. I love the crown and the angular lugs, the indices look great, I really like the hand set. Ceramic insert is quite nice (I like it better than the Omega tbh), bezel action is good. I put it on a Crafter Blue strap which is quite impressive quality. The case is 43.8mm but the lug to lug is like 47 so it works well. Only 13mm thick so comparable to a Sub. The 6R35 was +25/day out of the box which was quite the eye opener for me, but I opened up the caseback and was able to tweak it to -1 or -2/day.
Was a big fan. They only did 1,500 and I happened across it about a week or so before they actually ran out so I bought almost immediately sight unseen and have been very happy with the purchase.
Nice. Although if you’re spending that much on steel, I think you should give strong consideration to an AP royal oak over the VC.
It’s in the picture, for sure. Like that the VC, isn’t as obvious of a choice... love them both & decision will likely come down to what will hold/appreciate the most over time. I’m ultimately selling this to the wife as an “investment”.
