My self awareness is fine. The fact that multiple people have pointed this very fact out makes me wonder about yours.
Fife would be incredibly underwhelming considering the swiftness the search is moving at and the inherent confidence Dolson seems to have that he fired Archie to make a significant upgrade. You don't pay a $10 million dollar buyout to go out and hire a first time head coach
You've missed the tournament for 4 years and you're calling people little brother It's clearly not...
congrats on winning yesterday (the first thing of note Illinois has done in 15 years) and being better than 4 of the worst IU teams of the last half century
I just think it's funny that spagett is playing the "your team sucks" card while acting like a Fredo in a thread where we are discussing a fired coach. I think we are all aware IU basketball isn't very good right now. That's why we fired the goddamn coach.
Rick Bozich outta Louisville is saying his sources have said Dolson's list is Beard, Drew, Musselman, Beilein, Matta, and Stevens with a belief they won't have to venture off that list, hence this moving kind of fast.
Well I'm always gonna expect the worst because I'm a miserable person. But I wanna believe Simply not entertaining Alford is a win and a reflection of the values in the department Musselman would be a A++
Lol, Illinois was 10-20 two years ago. They finished 7th or worse in the conference 6 of the last 10 years and have had losing records 3 times in that span, same as IU. Keep on projecting John Canzale
scored in the 88th minute vs Mich St to pull out a 2-1 W. Sounds like we're alone in 1st right now women's cross country finished 19th at NCAA championships and the men were 26th
That’s kinda a bummer. I hadn’t followed them too closely this year, but their roster is better than finishing in the 20’s. Looked at the results and it looked like Veatch had a tough showing. Too bad for his last xc race of his career. Horter hasn’t been able to figure it out at the collegiate level, he was such a stud in high school. Really impressive showing from ND though. I would never have thought Danny Kilrea would be a number 10 finisher in the nation kind of runner. I remember seeing him run at Culver in maybe 2014 or 2015 and he was really great but not elite. Quite the glow up for him.
As a grad transfer, would be a nice addition to a program with a competent coach IMO. Hope he has a chance to play in the tournament somewhere
Some local NC State guys talked about Archie and how he was during our 2017 coaching search. Joe Giglio is in radio now but he was our beat writer for the local paper and is a really respected guy locally who had known Archie since he played for us. I was pretty shocked to hear him just call out Archie like this, but it seems like he’s just a plain asshole. Figured you guys might enjoy a quick 2 minute clip of his story trying to get an interview.
He definitely did not care for the spotlight and off the court stuff that is part of being the IU cosch, for better or worse. He also always seemed less than pleased, never really smiles.
so don't get me wrong, I am definitely in the camp of this being an absolute pipe dream, but this is a really odd, long and drawn out way of saying "no it won't be me" - to the point it was never actually said.
Not sure if anyone heard Scott Drews's comments, but he was pretty non-committal on his future at Baylor.
I don't think anyone has any idea and it's not worth reading into anything until a hire is made. I keep seeing people mention Brad Stevens so might as well watch Bigfoot documentaries
Beard would be such a damn home run that I can't get my hopes up that high. Pretty blessed that a coaching search is one of my main sources of anxiety right now
Is Beard’s connection just that he coached under Knight at TTU? Obviously IU is a much more prestigious job, and Beard’s resume speaks for itself, but I wasn’t sure if there was something I was otherwise missing.
coached under Bob and Pat for like ten years there, yeah. And the fact he took the UNLV job and bailed for TTU like ten days later makes me think he'd be willing to bail for a better job again even after accomplishing some great things at his current job
I wouldn’t but it seems like they are shooting higher, which isn’t a slight at Moser at all. I’d be totally happy if they went with him.
Just put two and two together Whoever made the thread title, nexus maybe, came into the illini thread and thought RIP Arch had something to do with Archie I told them it was about a former Illinois player Robert Archibald
Our thread title is directly related to Illinois shitting the fucking bed and embarrassing themselves. Again.
It's ok to admit you did it because you thought the Illinois thread was about you when it was about a dead person
Just got an alert that they are targeting Thad fucking Matta and Mike Motherfucking Woodson. Just kill me
I’m choosing to believe that’s fake news and the lack of news is because the real targets are still coaching
it was reported by Rick Bozich and then shortly after that report comes out Inside the Hall (run by Bozich's son Alex) put up their Matta candidate profile. I mean Matta > Woodson but that would not be super exciting for me. He was coaching at practice in a wheelchair IIRC
