...sure, but not really. That was for Kennard and the trades just ended up merging later on into one big trade.
If you want to be a technical cunt as you wont to do, but Brown wasn't a piece of value in that trade and was thrown in. If you're going to an obtuse bitch about it go ahead, but the reason the got Bey was because of Kennard. They also gave up several 2nd rounders in draft capital which makes it even worse.
So Brown was part of the Bey trade and without including him we wouldn’t have Bey. Thanks for clarifying and also the name calling
I didn’t even get to the stupid part of this post before Vinegar Strokes quoted it. You think the Bey trade was bad because we gave up 2nd round picks?
I like Weaver so far. He seems aggressively conservative. He's willing to fuck around a lot, but not do something that hampers the team going forward. Unsure on Hayes, but the other two picks look like hits. Plumlee signing looking oddly savvy.
More than a top 55 protected future 2nd round pick and a guy they ate $2M in cap space to cut before the season? That's basically negative value after they cut Musa.
And in terms of this, I don't think it as about people. Especially with Brown. Casey loved that guy. I'm guessing it had something to do with Wood in terms of being scared to invest long term in him, but I don't think he's considered a bad culture guy, either. I think it had more to do with Weaver wanting to put his stamp on things from the jump and bringing in as many new guys as he could. The equation is basically Stewart/Wright/Plumlee or Wood. Grant doesn't really have anything to do with it. If they don't take on the Ariza/Wright salary for Stewart and then sign Plumlee, that's an extra $20M+ that would have allowed them to keep Wood and possibly allowed them to keep Snell without having to move him for Dedmon and then stretch that deal over 5 years. I'd much rather have Wood than do all of that, but again, I think Weaver wanted a bunch of his guys in and decided to go that route, and we'll see how Stewart develops. That was the bed he wanted to make, which is fine. It just annoys me when the media guys pretend like it wasn't an option.
Yes but the guy they drafted would be on a cheap rookie deal and we could overpay for someone in free agency like....
Detroit sports fans love to bemoan effort. It’s probably not singular to the city but it’s very evident.
It will all be dependent on the ping pong balls. Get Cade and this is a top 4 team in East next year.
i loved what you did in the draft and was hopeful to see you clear out the old guys. FA made me shake my head but overall I think you’re on the right track
New mock on the Athletic had us at two picking Mobley. As much as I don’t want to draft a big, that kid is legit and seems to embody everything Weaver wants in a player. I am still not sure he’s my #2 behind Cunningham but I think he’s pretty damn close.
Kevin O’Connor League sources say Atlanta is receiving significant trade interest for John Collins from the Celtics, Kings, Mavericks, Pistons, and Timberwolves. The Hawks want one young player and a first-round draft pick to make a deal, or a package of similar value such as multiple first-round picks. For example, league sources say Atlanta wanted Malik Beasley and a first from Minnesota, but the Wolves declined.
I didn’t expect to be buyers at the deadline but now we’ve been linked to Collins and Oladipo today. What does our winning percentage need to be going forward to make the playoffs
Trading for Collins would be a disaster long term, IMO. We would have to give away assets to Houston just to be able to trade Atlanta a first round pick in the next 6-7 years.
