It's funny how you can tell when they just added new music to their library. About 4-5 80s or Rock classes had "Pour Some Sugar On Me" in them a month or two ago, and now I'm seeing "Monkey Wrench" by Foo Fighters in a ton of rides. Looks like Emma's latest rock ride has two Radiohead tracks so wonder if they just added them too
I have only completed the FTP test (plus a warmup). I’m thinking I might check out Matt Wilpers’ “30min PZ hip hop ride” here in a few minutes. Hoping this isn’t a mistake.
longer and not as intense. The test is rough because it’s to get your zones. The classes are to usually to work within those zones. Also there are different types of classes endurance ones keep you in the lower zones. I forget the name of the ones that have in you the higher cardio zones.
The FTP test is what sets your output ranges for PZ classes. In order to figure out your ranges, you just try to kill yourself for 20 minutes. In a PZ or PZ endurance ride, you never come anywhere close to that output level. They're designed to have you working in certain effort levels, which will be unique to each person. You'll work, you'll get a good sweat going, but you'll be a long way from wanting to die like in an FTP.
I’m running through the Discover your PZ now. These rides are all most sustained efforts at a certain output. The endurance rides have been like 4 or 5 min at a 3 then 2 at a 2 and then back again. The PZ rides will go higher zones, but again longer efforts. Really enjoying them for a longer ride.
Just finished the 30 minute one I referenced above. The zone 4 was what the focus was on this ride. Really liked it, I liked staying in a consistent zone/output for longer. Felt like my heartbeat didn’t top out as high as it does on regular rides but it stayed high enough for a longer period of time. Also allowed me to really focus on a consistent pedal stroke which will help long term. It also was nice how it felt more “customized” since my zone 4 is different than someone else’s obviously.
I like the endurance ones on easier days. I did one with Wilpers the other day and it was a nice humble brag when he says his zone 2 is somewhere around a 220 output
Same thing happened on this one, he said something about how his Zone 4 was like 275-310 or something.
I’ve had the bike since November and just realized there’s a random screw at the bottom of my handle bars that has made it so I can’t lift them any higher than the current setting. I always thought there’s no way where I have it is the max, but wow.
How tall are you? Yesterday I was listening to a guy who does bike fitting for professional riders talk about common problems he sees with Pelotons. He said the number one issue by far is people setting their handlebars way too high. It can negatively affect power by making you too quad dominant. I'm trying mine a notch lower now and I was already fairly low.
I’m like 5-9/5-10 so I’m not super tall or anything. I really only need them to go up a little bit so I can bend my arms a little more. It’s not a huge deal as I’ve been riding fine how it is, but it’d be nice to not have such a hunch in my back since I’m already trying to correct my terrible posture that keeps getting worse with working from home. Only reason I even realized this is my friend just got one and he said the screw was making it so his handle bars stopped at “C” which is way lower than mine was stopping.
PR'ed to that for a 20 minute last night despite being off the bike for 3-4 days and drinking/eating like crap all weekend. Almost no other option. Emma is probably still my favorite instructor but the Kendall metal/emo/hard rock rides all feel like events and are my favorite genre of ride. She only drops about one metal or emo ride every ~3 weeks it feels like though, I wish they dedicated her or Emma to rock full time because there seems to be only a few instructors that do a good job with rock.
Anyone have a problem with their headphones being quieter all of a sudden? Seems like end of last week the volume in my airpods dropped off. I need to be almost all the way up for it to feel how it used to at half way.
Yes. I've been riding my mountain bike more lately so my sample size is only one, but I rode Peloton last night and the earbuds I've used for years were really quiet. Messed with them during warm-up and couldn't get them loud enough. Since the home screen on device looked slightly different, I figured an update messed things up....again.
R.I.P. to my favorite Peloton hack - a baby stoller fan with a clip base that I attach to the top of the monitor. Blasts me in the face with a cooling breeze which is critical since my Peloton is in the warmest room in my house. I can't complain about the fan only lasting 18 months given that it has fallen onto the hardwood floor something 100 times in its lifespan and you can now hear loose parts in the assembly. Ordered stroller fan #2.
Yeah after I hit post and re-read it, I almost went back and edited it to say “so I’m not super tall or anything (or tall at all)”. In my head it read “I’m 5-9 so no I should not be maxing out the handlebar requirements on the bike”
Being able to raise the handle bars another “letter” was an awesome find. Don’t feel like I have to hunch way over when standing up.
They really need to add the charts of baseline cadence and resistance to the “view class” page on the app. It is frustrating searching through the classes on the bike to find a class that targets what I want on a given day.
Once every couple weeks someone tries to highlight something silly/dumb/campy Kendall says. It only makes her stronger.
King. I didn't actually meet her. Just took my first class of hers and I plan to take some more in the future. Yes, yes I do.
I’m sure you’ll take off with her, all you need are the two balloons on her chest to help get you going.
I would just go to dicks. Only thing you really need theirs for are renegade rows and dumbbell pushups. I just do a variation that doesn't require me to balance on my cheaper dumbbells.
yeah just wasn’t sure how much cheaper they are peloton has 25lbs for 85, if it’s $85 for a pair, that seems like a good deal
Not sure to be honest. I use a wahoo hr strap as well, not sure if that makes it more accurate? Not sure
I’m sorry but Tunde wasting Ante Up on a warmup is playlist malpractice. And the edited version to boot, smh.
This ride destroyed me today. Efficient to get in that much work in 20 minutes, but holy shit it sucked
At what point do I do the FTP test? I was going to do it this week, did the warm up and was like “fuck no I don’t want to do this shit for 20 minutes”. But, I do want to do some longer classes and most of them seem to be power zone
