So true, you will always miss him but at some point you realize that everything worked out perfect. I still think about spock often and frankly I would change nothing even though I miss him a lot. He lived 15 years in great shape, it was hard to see the last month but he lived a full life surrounded by his family and we gave him all the love to the last moments. That’s all you can control If we went back in time and someone asked me if I want to live the terrible moments after we let him go again, I would say no. but then I have so many more good memories with my dog, i can take the pain for a lifetime of good memories with a perfect friend.
Our lab came up limping after chasing a squirrel around the tree in the front yard. She hasn't wanted to put weight on it and hasn't even gone to the bathroom since then, can tell she is hurting. Have an appointment at 215, hoping its just a strain or something but this is the most pain I've ever seen her in.
Really sorry to hear this Blue, I've seen so many of them pass in rescue but never had to put one down myself, probably my biggest fear at this point in my life. You did the best thing for him even up to the end, that's all you can ask of yourself as a pet parent.
Thanks, man. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done; lost my stepdad to COVID in December, but this was tougher. Makes it worse that my wife is so upset. We’ve got three others, and I’ve got a constant sense of dread that something happens to them now. Thanks again to everyone for the kind words and thoughts.
Last May the dog in my avatar was diagnosed with bone cancer. Amputated her back leg and went through chemo. Today was her 6 month check up and she relapsed and it's in her lungs. Knew this day as coming. Another round of chemo would only be a 30% chance of working and maybe extend her 6 months. Shitty day today. Got 1-2 months with this girl.
I can't with these two. Couldn't be more different but were immediately best friends. And Max, the pug, isn't intimidated at all. He's the one instigating most of it. He tried to play tug of war and it always ends poorly for him.
The pups enjoying a visit to the the world's most famous radial dike swarm. Both took to their new life as rock climbin pups with aplum.
That’s awesome except for the snow and cold can you train them to do it on a tropical island beach really that cool, bet they love working
About to get a new dog after a few years, what’s the recommended pet insurance? Should have the new pup by the end of the week so will post pics when she arrives.
PetPlan. I (unfortunately) have had to make a lot of claims the past 10 months and the process and service has been easy to get reimbursed. Haven't posted in a while about it but Paisley had a bacteria attack her liver which required hospitalization. After getting that resolved, the heavy need for antibiotics and a lot of other meds may have let to ITP (Immune-mediated thrombocytopenia) which basically meant her immune system started attacking her blood platelets. This also required a short hospitalization. Treatment is still ongoing but she is doing really well. But all of this probably would have been 10K out of pocket and it came out of nowhere. With PetPlan I've had about 80% reimbursed without hassle. So while you may be shopping around and find better prices...I can at least attest that actually getting claims through PetPlan has been a good experience.
