I just want to be good again. I’m tired of shitting on the student athletes, however, the coaches deserve all the criticism they get
Maybe they should just make someone a special teams coach (not analyst) and let them do the job, since half of these dorks can’t even coach their own position. Still more awareness than Frost though admitting they weren’t doing a great job.
The buck stops....everywhere else. Fine culture we have in our football program, gents. Fine culture indeed.
Not sure how Nebraska does it, but I am sure Rutledge ran his own special teams - got the scheme from whoever he coached under before. Rutledge then runs his own meetings with the coaches & players (who participate in the ST drills/stations). You split into stations, work on specific technique, and then put it all together with a full 11. It sounds like Rutledge didn't mesh well with the other staff and I am almost certain that it created a divide in technique and scheme. Quite laughable that the leadership (Frost) couldn't see the problems when it sounded like they were there from the jump.
I guess what I meant was, from my understanding analysts can’t “coach” or be on the sidelines right? You run the risk of that disconnect even if everyone’s on the same page, if the actual ACs can’t do what they need to do on gamedays because the analyst isn’t “there”
You mean the guy, who couldn't bench the center who can't consistently snap until a season and a half after the problem surfaced, has trouble diagnosing problems that are ultimately his responsibility?
Im not sure of the actual D1 rules, but I believe each team gets 20 headsets. Rutledge would be in the box relaying messages to whoever is in charge of getting ST ready on the sideline. Whatever coach is in charge of say L1 or L2 - they watch that then relay what happened, or didn't happen correctly. ST is a huge joint effort, and it's not a surprise that it's a clusterfuck with this staff.
One of my favorite Frost-isms is when they ask about a guy taking a kick 98 yards to the house and he says something like “I don’t know what happened there, I was talking to the offense they weren’t supposed to kick to that guy.” But it’s happened like 3 times the past two seasons
That sounds correct. I can’t remember where I read this or if a friend told me this, but at some point I thought someone said Rutledge was frustrated because Frost (maybe more so the ACs) weren’t actually listening to what he was saying. I thought his ST units were alright at his previous spots so I was surprised how bad last year was.
And apologies for bringing up old gripes...still can't believe that happened/is our continuing reality.
There’s probably like 3 dudes on the staff that would be coaching P5 without Frost so I’m sure they’re all very thankful for this opportunity and wouldn’t want to mess that up by not being a yes man.
Yeah I agree. I was somewhat shocked they got rid of him, but I’m sure if he wasn’t fitting in with the rest of the bachelor party they had to blame someone.
Have we seen the last top 20 football recruiting class in Nebraska football? Christ I don't even know if I'm shitposting
Anyone remember La Bamba’s burritos as big as your head circa 2000? That was a burrito shop, dean, you bumble fuck.
Crunchy chicken potato burrito is god tier. I missed the Runza convo too, but go-to there is double cheeseburger, fries & ranch. Also 5 guys just might be top burger in the state idc.
Is it a hot take to say Taco John's is better than Taco Bell? It's not particularly close I don't think. Taco Bell fills an important role but TJs is much higher quality
Crunchy chicken meat and potato burrito, medium, side of queso for the oles, churro if I’m feeling extra fat. The best combo
For a conference in dire need of solid marketing, they’re sure picking the guy who draws a lot of unintentional attention
