We could massively reduced the flu burden in the United States if kids had to get vaccinated for school. They are huge drivers of the flu season.
The town next to my hometown is doing away with all masks and social distancing in schools now. There is no way red states will ever make vaccination mandatory to attend.
I'm sore where the shot was. But man I'm super sluggish. Thank God today is the last work day of the week and I'm done with pretty much everything I needed to do because I don't feel like doing shit.
MIL was almost identical (except our 2 are already here). Took her a while to come around because she reads too much shit on Facebook. We told her in February that she couldn’t visit until she had a vaccine. She signed up a few days later. Her husband (semi Trumper, die hard Fox News) was adamant he wasn’t going to get it, but as more and more of their friends set similar rules for visits/get togethers, he came around and got his first shot last Saturday.
finally a payoff for all the waste lists I got on, got the call from CVS just after 6pm yesterday. Pfizer Shot 1 in arm 25 minutes later
I just got moderna number 2. We will see how the next 24 hours go. Just glad to have it regardless of the effects.
yes? I have a PhD in virology, and you're tagging me to read a nymag article. Can you just not be the way that you are?
This seems good, I don't know how many of these people who were positive for the variant are actually in South Africa and if they are testing people regularly to catch mild/asymptomatic cases but it's still welcome news. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...-vaccine-works-against-south-african-n1262710 Edit: Found it in this CNN article, https://www.cnn.com/2021/04/01/health/pfizer-covid-vaccine-efficacy-six-months-bn/index.html
I just want to get to the point where im confident having my son around other people. I'll be fully Bill Gates in about a month (2 weeks until shot 2) but that still doesn't mean I want my kids around anti-vax people.
The only holdouts now in my family are my 2 pregnant sister in laws. Mom, dad and in-laws are all vaccinated as well as my wife but my concern is still our kid going to daycare. I know the workers are all trying to get it but it’s still the other kids parents that I don’t have control of that bother me.
My boss was very vocal about not getting the vaccine. Last week he snuck out and got it. People are more pro-Trump than they are anti-vax I think/hope. He just didn't want anyone to know. Too bad they marker all over your windshield and windows, so it was pretty obvious.
pretty good vaccine commercial during the Yankees game. Showed a bunch of full stadiums. "The Vaccines are here. See you soon." final tagline said "It's Up To You."
How is proof of vaccination going to work in the future? That vaccination card they give you looks like something you could make at staples.
Right after I got my vaccine I got an email with a verification code to get to my vaccination record. Now I can show them my shot record on my phone in 5 seconds.
My assistant is black I asked if she was getting it and she said no because she has diabetes. I explained that means she should get it. All I got was a “nope.”
My wife’s boss is black and she was telling my wife how hard it has been for her to get some of her friends and family to go get the vaccine. She said they “read too much crap on Facebook”.
I think it's the black community's higher rate of distrust of doctors for known reasons. I handle a lot of comp cases and if a doctor recommends surgery I see a lot more black plaintiff's that turn down procedures that they probably should get.
When there is a well documented history of the government experimenting with drugs/medicine on the black community you can't just expect everyone to willingly hop in line for a shot from the government.
