To be fair, he was a second line center for like 7 years in Pittsburgh. (behind Mario Lemieux) Also I think he was the 2C in Carolina as well (behind Brind’Amour)
They may end cancelling the season for Vancouver. One thing for a player or two to get it but when it goes thru the entire team it will take a month or two for players regain health and their fitness.
Not sure how you can have anyone scheduled to play Vancouver just hit pause on their season while they try to get healthy.
They've been playing pretty mediocre lately and look lifeless today. It feels like they're going through the motions and trying to get through the season to the playoffs, but some of their habits are not good right now.
Van is 6 points back of the Habs who have three in hand on them. Obviously teams can go on Hamburgler or Binnington level runs but not after getting your team wiped out by an invasive virus. Slot them based on winning percentage.
my friend got an hour of ice time the other to practice with his 16 years old son who is going to upper canada college. So he asked me to go take some shots from them. I saved his kid multiple times and he started to act like that, smashing his stick every 2 min. had to tell him to not do that. First you look like an idiot and second there is nothing a goalie likes more than a guy that smashes his stick after you rob him. but the little bastard is pretty good, he had me a few times.
cant get vaccinated in a lot of places and it would be difficult to vaccinate everyone at once. People can get fatigued from the 2nd shot so most teams are spreading it out. Also the league isn’t requiring players get vaccinated.
Mrazek with a shutout in his first game back. Good win for the Canes after that terrible loss last night.
I think the issue is players not being able to get it in a number of states, which isn’t surprising. I haven’t heard of the aversion to the vaccine coming from NHL players, like we heard from the NBA.
There’s a ton of states that have covid available to anyone and plenty of shots to go around. Say a team has a three day break, fly half the team up there right after the game, get the shot the next day, have a couple days of recovery in case any have symptoms.
I’d heard some players will want to wait until the off season just to be safe. They aren’t sure how their bodies will react to the vaccine so best to wait.
That’s not true. As of April 1st, the only states with NHL teams that have vaccines available to everyone are Ohio, Minnesota, Texas, and Arizona. More are starting to make them available this month and next. I don’t know Canada’s situation, but I’d imagine it’s similar.
They are welcome to do what they want, but this is undue and misplaced fear due to the anti vaccine community and the initial fear mongering by the media regarding the shots.
Well the majority of players haven’t had the virus by socially distancing, limiting interactions and wearing a mask. Basically following protocols. Some feel more comfortable waiting. Can’t believe I have to explain that to you.
We are somewhere between 15-20% with at least one needle in their arm. Vaccines are ramping up with a million to 2 million a week arriving. Hockey players will not get priority and it’s expect all Canadians will get at least their first shot sometime in June.
I would guess a lot of them got it done during spring training, which takes place primarily in states where vaccines are more widely available. I’d also point out there’s a ton of players refusing to get the shot- one team I can reliably say had about a 50% refusal rate when the vaccine was offered.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m taking the vaccine as soon as I can, but weren’t a lot of posters in corona thread saying they experienced flu or covid-lite like symptoms after getting their shot? I could see how players with a game to play later in the evening be reluctant to take the risk of getting sick. These guys aren’t exactly sitting at a computer all day.
Exactly. Some athletes will be more comfortable with status quo as opposed to the unknown reaction to the vaccine. Unfounded, but can see where they are coming from.
lol this season is completely lost for the stars scf hangover, covid, huge ice storm that caused rescheduling, and now covid again
Bowness has been vaccinated. He thinks it’s a false positive as he texted with one of the local radio guys.
I thought getting vaccinated still could mean you could get it? Just that your risks of getting hospitalized were almost nullified and that the potentially contagious symptoms were much lower in strenght?
I said if he’s able to be even average defensively, which I’ve gone on record as being somewhat skeptical of happening. He’s been playing alongside Cody Ceci though for crying out loud so he deserves latitude. It’s seems that by most accounts he’s been a welcome addition though.
bowness probably won’t make it through the season as coach anyways right or wrong, he’s going to catch a lot of the blame for this disaster of a season
Huh? Are you suggesting residents of California can fly to a place like Montana get the first shot, then fly home, and subsequently fly back to Montana roughly 21 days later? The number of vaccines are distributed to states based on the pop.
