Thanks for going into some details on this. Hadn't seen the talking point, but lol at drawing that false equivalency. It's difficult to get Colorado residency, but about as easy to vote as it gets.
Serious question - should we be legislating something like this? Like send someone a text and video and realize it can be shared do we need like fines and jail around that? It’s inarguably a douchebag thing to do...
On the one hand, it can utterly destroy people’s lives. On the other hand... it does absolutely nothing positive. What could possibly be a legitimate justification for not outlawing it?
I guess... just like realize that if it could ruin your life maybe don’t share it in the first place. But it’s obviously a shit fucking thing to do and if you’re stupid enough to send it as an adult (kids would already be outlawed) it doesn’t hurt to have legislation to prevent people from doing it? There’s really not much justification not to other than I guess I’m getting fatigued of having to have the need to legislate around protecting against peoples own naïveté
The whole pretext is those images were shared between the 2 parties in confidence. The subject should absolutely have the right to give consent to have the images shared outside of that conversation, and it should be illegal if used as revenge porn. How is this even a topic of debate?
I mean, how fucking soft are you if this is a legit problem? This is quite possibly the worst justification for anything I’ve ever heard in my entire life.
You're starting to sound like that Virginia Tech fan who predicted the downfall of pornhub because it cracked down on revenge porn, underaged, and rape fantasies.
Does you significant other know your SSN? DOB? Mother's maiden name? Would it be a crime if he or she were to use that information against you if you got divorced like say, apply for credit cards in your name?
true I think protecting one’s naïveté is silly so I am against things like the consumer fraud protection bureau and expanded social work and yep you guessed it laws for revenge porn
this is not the equivalent, that’s theft but I suppose you could make the same argument, you all bring up valid points. Just wish people would be more careful I guess
What if you wished people wouldn't be pieces of shit instead? Weird take to put the onus on the party that did nothing wrong
No need. It's important to share our thoughts on things and have them challenged. Just gotta deal with people being snarky assholes about it sometimes. Also have to be open to reevaluating things
All the people that shit on people have, at one time or another, been shit on hard for some stupid thought they had that wasn't based in fact. Kind of part of the deal.
I knew when I saw your post that you'd get piled on, but as an older guy (40's) who was married by the time sharing photos electronically became a thing, I can see where your question is coming from. However, ultimately for me it comes down to this: If you share in confidence something with someone you are in an intimate relationship with, they shouldn't be able to use it against you. Not the same thing, but close: About 15 years ago a friend of my wife's dated a guy who she worked with. She told him things about her abusive childhood, including being sexually abused. When she broke up with him after a year and half, he told people at work about her past, and he was fired. He was pretty loud about suing the company over it. I think he was rejected to half court and not sure what happened after that because thankfully we never heard from him again.
Just to somewhat reinforce my point... These people have absolutely no argument. They believe that their constituents are legitimately stupid, and they pander to a fake culture war/fox news sound bite. It’s truly pathetic, and Lester Holt was 100% right. You cannot give “equal time” to each side when one side is pushed conspiracies and lies. Trump destroyed the Republican Party. Not literally, just morally. Sure it was on its way down well before trump, but at least back in the day they had some ideas and principles
Yep. Colorado has hundreds of drop boxes. Same day registration. Mails everyone a ballot. Polls open until 7. Colorado had the 2nd highest voter turnout for 2020. The bottom 10? Oklahoma Arkansas Hawaii WV Tennessee Mississippi Texas New Mexico Indiana Alabama
I find it strange that Nazi Germany had fresh water, and so does Switzerland. But I don’t see the libs trying to cancel Stockholm!
Remember when there was that “all white, but not racist” basketball league like 12 years ago? I think someone should bring it back for baseball. Would be uge this summer. Is castefootball still around? I remember when they thought the racist media was keeping Toby Gerhart from going in the first round.
Looking back on that draft, that might be the worst year of RB's ever. CJ Spiller Ryan Mathews Jahvid Best Dexter MCluster Toby Gerhart Ben Tate Montario Hardesty Joe McKnight Anthony Dixon Deji Karim Jonathan Dwyer James Starks Charles Scott
