NFL people are either really dumb or just make constant dumb decisions. Mac should be a late round QB or early day 2 pick. You don't often see QBs making errant throws at their proday, which is specifically designed to make them look good.
Jones to SF seems like such a media overreaction based entirely on who Shanahan has been stuck with in the past. Like they're trying to will it to happen.
I agree, but at the same time, they already made the trade up knowing who they are targeting. There isn’t any reason for secrecy if they are between Wilson and someone else. It’s entirely possible they let their guard down on the secrecy knowing they are getting one of their two guys.
I didn’t hear the spot, so who knows if this is exactly what Schefter said, but let’s assume it is the case. What does SF gain from trolling the media, when Lynch himself is a former media member and likely has relationships with many of these people?
I guess I don't think this is SF trolling media because I don't think it's coming directly from them. I think it's a bunch of people who think Kyle Shanahan will prefer Mac Jones to Fields and Lance, and everyone is running with it because it's crazy. Granted, SF did choose to attend Jones' pro day over Fields' pro day, so maybe I'm just in denial about it.
It is a unique situation because we are still weeks out from the draft, but when was the last time there was so much consensus about a top 3 pick that didn’t end up coming true? IIRC didn’t most people have the Lions pegged for Okudah this time last year?
Usually I think any info leaking in the weeks before the draft is a smokescreen but with the jags locked in on Lawrence and the Jets seemingly locked in on Wilson, I just don’t see what the 49ers would gain with any type of smokescreen at this point which leads to your point about people just trying to connect the dots
A few of the reliable Bengals insiders have been saying Pitts isn't even in the discussion at five. But our Director of Player Personnel spoke yesterday and specifically mentioned Pitts, Chase, and Sewell. I wasn't too keen on a tight end at five, but I've warmed up to it of late. A lot of the "YOU MUST GOT O-LINE IN ROUND ONE!" people are forgetting that the draft is more than one round. I would be fine with any of them even though I continue to have no faith in the Bengals doing things right.
I agree. Gators bust at an extremely high level. So don't even look at Pitts. He's not worth it. Let a stupid team like the Dolphins take Pitts and make that mistake.
Every single time I do a four or five-round no-trade mock with the Bengals going non-OL in round one, I still come away with a significant upgrade at the position (which isn't saying much really since they have the worst OL in the league). Spoiler
if the niners are stupid enough to draft jones at 3 then i am going to laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh
As someone who reads all the stuff and does tons of mocks like Pelican, I end up being all in and out on 15 different guys every year in the months leading up to the draft. This year I've talked myself into all of Pitts, Sewell, Chase and Fields as "no way the Lions can pass on..." guys if they're available, while also not being sure if Waddle might be a better fit than Chase and if Slater might be better than Sewell. I'm also anywhere from "Parsons would be an ideal fit" to "I don't want Parsons anywhere on the Lions". What I'm saying is the long pre-draft process is rough.
I think most of us were; watching your franchise quarterback's knee explode because he wasn't adequately protected will do that. I'd still be totally fine with Sewell, but the more that comes out about him the more it seems like he isn't the generational talent that people were hyping him up as. And apparently he has shorter arms than any OT ever picked in the top 5, for whatever that's worth.
Totally fine with people overthinking things and Sewell dropping to the Packers (realistically the Chargers).
The Reiff acquisition really changed things. I know he’s 32 and will only help for a year, but going from Bobby Hart to Riley Reiff is like going from Willie Taggart to Vince Lombardi.
Jesus man get your priorities in order. This is a fake internet message board draft we’re talking about. Are you not aware of what’s at stake?
So will every #Miami Dolphins fan. For the next two years at minimum. Can't wait to send them back one of those picks for Nick Bosa.
PFF has the best mock draft simulator Able to customize trends so much more than others. Their trading is a bit unrealistic, but still fun
You have to draft a QB to get an A pretty much. I like the pattern, big board, and draft modifying you can do better
the fact that it seems like a universally believed pick lends credence to the fact that it's real just like wilson to NYJ
And there’s near universal excitement for it. From Bama fans and nearly everyone else. Doesn’t happen often.
I hope Mac gets picked third then drinks himself out of the league. then moves to mobile and gets a job at a steel mill and occasionally hawking F250s for Mullenax Ford on local adverts and finds himself drinking the pain away at the bar round the corner from my house where we meet over a shot of montezuma and a cold pabst and I convince him not to let up on his dream.. then he bounces back and gets a tryout with my beloved Raiders (lifelong fan) and makes the team where he leads Henry Ruggs to multiple pro bowl seasons and Josh Jacobs to multiple 1000/1000 seasons and wins MVP after MVP and retires to a Las Vegas send out For the ages just so I can tell Bankz to eat my ass
Missed the part when he avoids prison after another dui after masterful representation from drew swinney, a successful attorney
