is there something different with Oregon's pro day times versus Slater's pro day times? why would the latter be "official"?
Sewell's #'s are disappointing. I'd hope that a guy that chose to opt out of the season would dedicate himself to crushing the combine type tests since he wouldn't have 2020 game film.
Mel Kiper is pretty much just WalterFootball.com at this point. He makes no sense and recycles same bits to the casual draft observer less Kiper the better
It has to be only a matter of time until ESPN throws a bunch of money at Jeremiah to replace Kiper right? Or is Miller them doing that on the cheap?
Mel's not going anywhere, whether we like it or not. Jeremiah recently said he would have Darnold third of the QBs in this draft after Lawrence and Wilson, as well.
Is it really that off when people are projecting mac jones at 3? I'm not convinced anyone besides lawrence is worth a top 10 pick this year, but the nfl is gonna nfl
I guess. I like fields more than wilson or jones and I've seen him past the top 10, so anything sooner than that is a sucker move to me.
Yeah Kiper said ahead all prospects not named Lawrence when talking about where he’d rank Darnold. That’s why it was a particularly strange take.
I’ve kinda given up understanding QB scouting logic outside of white guy typically gets benefit of the doubt If Darnold was such a great prospect and still 23, why can he only get a 2022 2nd
When has Darnold ever been good? Either your evaluation was off or talent is still there and utilized terribly
Has to be. We just saw that not a single QB needy team was interested in Darnold for a first so Kiper would have to somehow be a bigger moron than I thought if he believes he has top 3 pick value today.
I didn't think it was strange at all. Teams value QBs higher than other positions. It ain't rocket science or anything new.
Brugler’s draft guide is out. It is included as part of your Athletic sub if you have one. Easily the best draft guide on the market.
There are so many things about this that would never happen but the Jags finding a way to end up with all of those pieces and still not have a franchise QB is somehow the most likely...
It's wild to me that it's basically already established that he won't be one of the top 3 QBs off the board.
we are only a few years removed from a team trading up to draft Mitch Trubisky. This shouldn’t ever shock you.
Only surprise is Shanahan is a qb guy and verified good offensive coach. In general, teams are happy to reach for QBs. e: not really sure why it needs to be a secret since we know it’s a QB. Someone mentioned in an article that the 9ers front office has been pretty good at keeping a wrap on personnel moves, in general. I still can’t believe it’s Mac Jones.
I wasn’t even impressed by Darnold as a prospect but it’s hilarious how my dumb brain can’t let go of “well he’s 23 and was a top draft pick so this could work” despite how bad he’s been in the NFL. The leaving Gase boost is really the only thing that should give me any optimism about Darnold.
I think the Gase part of the equation is the reason. If he had played the same way for just about anyone else in just about any other situation, I don't think anyone trades anything of value for him and he's considered nothing more than a lotto ticket off the scrap heap.
The Gase thing is honestly probably not a bad reason to have some hope. Tannehill went from showing promise in Miami and being a pretty decent starter to getting traded for a 5th round pick after two years of Gase. Injury played a part but Gase is offense poison.
So many instances of guys getting much better without Gase that it’s very encouraging. My initial thoughts were to compare it to Tannehill but he was never as bad as Darnold
