Frank will not be retained. Should be announced by middle of next week at the latest. Best hire would be Boyton but not sure he’d leave OSU. Sucks but not surprising.
There is enough talent just in Columbia to have a competitive team. If we hire someone who can recruit the state + pull from Atlanta and Charlotte then we should go to the tournament every other year or better. Jordan brand + AAU = better talent. Make it happen Ray.
Liked him as a player but no need to lock in on him I’d say. Cast a wide net, somebody can do this job
Yeah those are some sick measurables. Must be nice to have Joe Horn for a dad. Jaycee needs to hide a cell phone in a goal post for a td celebration at some point
To their credit, USC removed this guy immediately. Remains to be seen if he will be fired. But yeah, they are looking awful right now. That big state article last week and now this. Very disappointing. Wish I could say surprising
According to team sources, a decision on Frank Martin’s future with the program is expected to be announced as early as today. @wachfox Trending toward Frank being gone. At this point I was hoping they’d give him another year. Tanner has botched this too. You can’t be in limbo this long. CofC has already made their move. Hired the best available coach in SC from Winthrop. Can we get a new AD please?
Let's win at sports, and while we're at it prove that we can protect the students we bring in from sexual assault
Serious question TC - zero attempt to undermine the victims but it seems like we have a wave of accusations against multiple staff. Is this turning into a witch hunt or are all these charges reliable? I have no knowledge, just trying to understand. I have 2 relatives (both female) currently attending USC and I have 2 very good friends who are professors in other departments. Seems like it went from 0-60 real fast. Sucks no matter the outcome and if the accusations are true then I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent.
My opinion is this is one of those "always been going on, just now getting called out" things. It does seem like a lot in a short time. The State article last week was about 3 different incidents, which occurred over the last couple of years. Then the suit against the history professor this week, which is about stuff that happened 2018-present. The biggest problem to me (based on what I've heard, haven't researched myself) is the USC faculty manual is unclear about what professors can and can't do with students, or more specifically that it mentions no punishment for sleeping with them. That seems like an easy fix to me -- don't know that wouldn't be cut and dry. "Hostile environment" just like in an HR setting. Three of the incidents were faculty -- the fourth was staff, which is a little different. (Guy impregnated his employee, made her get an abortion, then bullied her out of the department?) Don't see how that's not a clear instance of rule breaking by the supervisor. The big problem is it seems like USC isn't serious about doing anything when something happens. That is fucked up, because it revictimizes people that report and causes a bunch of others to keep silent because what's the use. The university needs to do something to start winning back people's trust
Soda City bros. Heading to the zoo with the kids in the morning and looking for recs on a lunch option that works for 4 adults and 4 kids (1 - 3 year olds). Prefer a brewery or something that has a beer good selection. Seems like Steel Hands brewing is kinda close, is it worth a shit? Thanks in advance, I'll hang up and listen.
Not a fan of Saturday Harbison traffic, especially with kids. Depends on your timing but sitting outside (if it’s not raining) on Main Street is fun on a Saturday after lunch. The Grand has good food and a nice bar. Kids could bowl if you’re up for that. Black Rooster in west columbia could be a good spot too. If it’s raining then I’d go to Public House on main or village idiot pizza. VI has a covered patio area too.
Steel Hands beer is not gonna win any awards from beer snobs, but it's a great outdoor space and they have some good food items. Get anything with the brisket in it. Columbia Craft has better beer -- has new outdoor space, but not as big as Steel Hands -- food depends on what food truck is there. WeCo Biergarten in West Columbia is not a brewery but has a lot of kinds of beer and fantastic outdoor setup. Food again depends on food truck.
I'm reading Frank Martin will be back next year -- supposedly BoT voted to keep him, partially for buyout reasons. I'm good with it -- last year was a fluke because of COVID
First black student body president at USC -- Harry Walker, 50 years ago. That second pic is from Ebony magazine https://www.dailygamecock.com/artic...st-black-student-body-president-donnelly-news
Scouting Stanford right now. Put it this way, their mascot ain’t the only tree they’ve got. (Their players are tall)
“I continue to be embarrassed and humiliated by my association with you and all you so disgracefully and incompetently display to the community you are charged to serve and to whom you look for support.” -Me, watching Gamecock football
i don't even understand her complaint. why would the university need to acknowledge the death of a major donor's parent? lots of "i'm rich so i'm special" vibes here
I think the better question is, why in the fuck wouldn’t the BOT acknowledge the death of a parent of the university’s largest benefactor?
the article says that clemson reached out to her to offer condolences. what a massive fuck up by the school
She has given Clemson lots of money too. Father went there iirc. Aggravating how she’s sucked up to both. But yeah pride needs to be swallowed on the USC end. Smooth it over ASAP. Moore school is really important to our brand
“And this folks is one of the only business schools in the country named for a woman. She hates us now btw”
think she's only given a paltry $10mil to clemson we poor farmers deserve more of her hard earned darlabucks
read the article and didnt realize a) she was only in her mid 60's (thought she was like 80 or something) and b) all the times the school keeps trying to piss her off. haley replacing her on the board with a campaign donor and then the caslen hire against her objections too the mother stuff was just the final straw for something that had been building for a while it appears
