I don’t think it’s the new developments, so much as reminding the world that this dude is a(n alleged) predator.
And I tend to agree. There's not a whole lot you can do other than send your best reporters and let them do their job long term. This feels like the most important story in sports right now, though, from a variety of angles. It was considered a disaster for the Texans before all this if they had to trade him for 4+ first round picks and other players. There's now a very real chance Watson won't ever play football again because of all this, and no one seems to know how to talk about it (and I don't really blame them because I don't know what they should be doing, either).
it's a virtual guarantee. he's done. unless all 22 lawsuits are tossed or unless all the women recant or the police basically say Buzbee has secretly concocted some Machiavellian plot against Watson there is no team who's going to want him as the face of their team. he's about to be Chernobyl-levels of toxic for any franchise. like I said, at this point he needs to pray no charges come from this, settle all the lawsuits quietly and then just go start a family or otherwise live a quiet life.
This has prob been said already but I bet the Watson criminal issues derailed a big trade with the 9ers. Better off trading some firsts for a sure thing in the league already than the draft.
well, i think this is a whole other discussion that ESPN is obviously not equipped to handle. hell, maybe no one can. but assuming he's guilty of the common element items from his accusers, is that a lifetime ban from the league? people compare him to Cosby because of the scale of alleged victims but Cosby was drugging and raping women. To the extent that there are degrees to sexual assault (and I imagine there is but don't know for sure), these crimes would be at the lesser end, I'd guess. So what's the appropriate punishment? Assuming no forced sex acts + no 'sexual trafficking'. Is he still done forever?
Probably suspended a year, forced to go to counseling. A team will need a QB and take the chance he's no longer a predator.
He's almost certainly guilty of some sort of sexual assault, but exposing yourself and asking for a BJ is obviously different than like a Kobe situation where he ripped a girls asshole to shreds against her will causing her to have reconstructive surgery. Who knows what else will come out, but I don't think his career is over at this point. Although, we are in a completely different era now than when the Kobe situation occurred. He needs some serious help at the very least.
yeah, i know at least one of the alleged victims made that accusation. and if it's true/there's evidence to suggest he's guilty of doing so, then i definitely think he's done forever (and jail time becomes more likely).
totally agree, just saying the smart play would be to just dip out of the public eye forever. the ultimate smart play, of course, would be to not sexually assault dozens of women. the league probably won't ban him unless he gets charged and convicted but just on the surface the optics of his position, undoubtedly the focal point of practically any franchise, and the allegations (sexually assaulting women) make it a wombo combo of bad PR for any team who'd take him. think of all the women's organizations who will threaten boycotts. if he was a CB or a TE or if this was a one-time incident (the scale of this stuff is obscene) he'd probably still have a career but I don't see any way he can survive after this unless this was all one big smear campaign concocted by Buzbee et. al
Did you not see where Deshaun would allegedly stiff these women on the full cost of massages because they wouldn’t let him allegedly sexually assault them?
Yes. She also said her mom dropped her off, she blacked out during oral, and then after he finished, she shat herself. Then went to bathroom to clean herself and her mom picked her up. crazy stuff... no idea how old she was.
Have noticed this on any Deshaun related tweet or IG post no matter how much info comes out, it’s fucking disgusting and I’m not sure why it even surprises me anymore
I've had three people call my cell phone and threaten to kill me + my family since this started. Pretty normal stuff.
Twitter is rampant with "If Deshaun is guilty then maybe, if the facts are that damning, should probably face a conviction BUT if these hoes lying they need to be jailed and sued along with the sponsors dropping him and everyone on twitter bad mouthing him have their accounts deleted and Deshaun is made the face of the league"
Of course not and in fact I will go as far as to say he learned this despicable behavior while he was in university.
All the comments in that twitter thread are basically more of the same as what’s on her Instagram. The internet continuously showing me how many gross incels there are in this country never ceases to amaze me. Twenty. Two. Women.
I wonder if a trade had gone down like a week before this happened if the 49ers would’ve been protected in any way by anything in the trade agreement.
I mean if you're going to file claims against someone they have a right to know who is accusing them.
I'd say the defense has the right to know, the public doesn't. Is there a law that says the defense can't go public with the names?
Unless he sexually assaulted multiple women on the same day in the same place in the same very specific way then he knows exactly who they are.
