I talked with Osborne’s dad at an airport bar before I headed off to Dallas for the Auburn - Oregon game. /tweet
Seems there has been a change of course on the Auburn boards and we actually passed on him b/c we have limited spots and need OL/RB. Enjoy our leftovers
With Swift and now Smith seems you guys have a lot of momentum in Philly area. It’s actually been producing some decent talent the last few years. Most of the top guys there seem interested in following Swift in going south. Enai White seems next in line to go south but I think he’s likely going to Bama.
ya thought that was interesting that Smith talked to Swift. I just figured he'd want to stay with his position coach and also we lost 3 starters at corner, 2 nickels and a safety.
Penn State has lost out on the following Philly kids: All 4/5 stars Kyle McCord Marvin Harrison Jr Jermiah Trotter Jr Elijah Jeudy Tysheem Johnson Tyreek Chappell Tykee Smith Isheem Young (after the case ended) Kyle Pitts Christian Barmore De’Andre Swift Mark Webb Naseir Upshur Will also probably miss out on: Enai White Anthony Johnson Rahmir Stewart (2023)
There is a lot of context missing on some of those guys. Some were clear loses. Others weren’t priorities or even recruited heavily.
i understand maybe three of the guys on list not being priorities but the rest would have been difference makers for the school especially the QB
Right, hindsight with some of these is 20/20. We didn’t pursue Barmore for whatever reason that hard and we basically told Pitts we were full because we already had 2 TE’s committed, including the #2 TE in this years draft behind Pitts, Friermuth. We wanted to get him as a DE because we liked him as an athlete just couldn’t take 3 TE’s. Isheem Young robbed a Wawa at gunpoint after he was committed to us. There’s plenty of misses in there...Swift, Jeudy, etc. that we pursued really hard but there’s also some context with some of those guys.
What happened with the Prep Trio no interest from there side? The robbing of the wawa was an inside job, young’s friend was a manager at the wawa. I saw him inside either the same wawa or different one after the judge gave him a second chance. Weren’t Kuntz’s knees shot before college?
Harrison/McCord had no interest. Trotter Jr, rightly or wrongly we never really pursued that hard. Clemson is a much better program than us so it doesn’t make sense, but he wasn’t high on the board for PSU. Kuntz has always sucked, yes.
Former five-star prospect and LSU tight end Arik Gilbert was back at LSU recently to meet with head coach Ed Orgeron, Orgeron confirmed on his Zoom press conference. After backing off his pledge to transfer to Florida in late February, the former blue chip recruit of the 2020 class met with Orgeron. "We had a very good meeting," Orgeron told reporters Tuesday night. "There's been no decisions been made. He was happy. Everybody was happy to see him. We checked with compliance to make sure that everything that he was doing was on the up and up when he come meet him and he could come talk to us. "He left. He hadn't made a decision yet, hadn't told us anything yet. I think it's still up in the air, but it was a very positive day when he came."
So he left, cant get into any other schools, but can somehow get back into LSU now? Someone explain this to me...
Since it’s Ed O’s words we are going with here, are we sure he’s even talked to Arik? Ed prob has no idea what’s happening.
wait really? We have hear rumors we had a tackle in the wings waiting to hit the portal but we never get nice thingd
He was fine in the one game he started against Michigan State, but he's probably 5th or 6th on our Tackle depth chart.
I heard two weeks ago they had been trying which obviously would have been before he was in the portal. He could have easily reached out to FSU and other schools to put out some feelers. I didn't really follow up on it though tbh. I kind of forgot that Max Wray exists.
Florida tried to get our other much better backup tackle to transfer but he was having none of it. His nickname is Big Thanos and I would have been devastated. Losing Wray instead of him is a big win. Wray had already been beaten out by a three-star RS freshman from Indiana.
lol I remember like sevenish years ago when FSU had a really bad line and then signed that Roderick Johnson kid that I really wanted Ohio State to get. I didn't realize the o-line play was still an ongoing problem.
Jimbo left trash and Willie set it on fire which is wild because the 2013 OL all went on to the NFL. After that just one bust after another until it was shitty recruits somehow not living up to their mediocre billing.
besides our natty run it's always been a problem. we've had one competent OL that couldnt stay healthy that transferred to Bama and became a star
