Bringing the Juice: Formation 1 is even better. A 4.75. Neal Engleman is the king of the Atlanta NEIPA scene. But Variant up in Roswell is also producing killer NEIPAs.
Variant kills it with fruited beers and stouts, too. Need to get up there and over to 3 Taverns more, but you know how it goes. Same with Torched Hop.
Agreed. Monday Night, 3 Tav, Variant, and TH are the 4 best breweries. The new anniversary stuff from Torched Hop is great. Had the new DDH Hops de Leon and Haze Craze last week. Both were excellent. Flavor Mechanics from Variant was my favorite beer of the year until this Bringing the Juice. Time for us to make a day of it.
I didn’t realize Variant is doing big things these days. You fuckers just doubled my beer purchases for the weekend.
update: if you drink more than three 7+abv beers then multiple 110+proof bourbon pours-you will have to answer to your wife later . taking this to the hangover thread
I got the Double Platinum and Viridescent (along with some stout bottles). They were out of Flavor Mechanics crowlers.
Damn, Flavor Mechanics is great. Wish you could have gotten your hands on one. Let me know about the Double Platinum. It’s about a fresh as it gets.
Dude said there was half a keg of Flavor Mechanics left, but they haven’t decided if it’s going to crowlers or the bar. As good as it may be, $15 is a tough sell for 32oz. Which is weird considering the stouts were pretty inline with regular prices.
It’s very good. Great nose and mouthfeel, a touch too boozy in the finish. $20 for four pint cans? All day $15 for two pints? I’m glad I can help out a local brewery
I wonder if that booze will mellow in a week or two. I’ll try to grab one and sit on it a week and let you know.
My gas would be deadly These high alcohol IPAs kill the stomach in my old age But they are so delicious
That 8-8.5 range is a perfect DIPA, and that's all I need. Anything higher, I enjoy it less, and it gets me drunk quicker than I'd prefer. If I'm trying to get hammered, give me a big stout.
Trim Tab needs to stop making like %95 of these “different” IPAs and start making 06 and Cloud Architecture more often
Yes. My understanding is they have different offerings by region or state. I don’t think I’ve seen a CA brewery in my offerings. I’m not familiar with them but that beer was part of a mixed 8 pack of imperial IPAs.
Of course they pulled out of MA and never came back. They were a bit of a rip off back then and I’m sure the markup is $$$
Yeah it’s not cheap, but wanted to try stuff from places I’ve never had. The stouts were ones I couldn’t get so I just started getting some IPAs and other stuff to fill out the box. It was my first time so I messed up on the shipping so waited too long and then started adding more.
I’m planning on going to the Navy Army game in the meadowlands this year. Plan is to try to go to a bunch of breweries in nyc.
Haven't gotten to do a full brewery crawl in NYC yet but made it a point to hit Other Half when we were there for the Ole Miss-PSU basketball game at Barclays at the end of 2019. Just plan to go for a few hours and run up a huge tab on small pours. As Is and Bling Tiger are also both fantastic beer bars. Much to my surprise there was still some OH in stock when I went to pick up beer today. Got cans of Radiant Cuts, Dream Gems, and Forever Cashmere (and a Great Notion Baked).
shivious I got the last crowler of Flavor Mechanics today. I think it’s a fine beer, but I prefer the Double Platinum much more. It was too malty/sweet for me and that’s my IPA jam. Thanks for the inadvertent heads up re: Variant making good beers.
You’re welcome. I’m picking up the Double Platinum tomorrow! I wonder how much the profile of Flavor Mechanics has changed since I had it in February. Are you on untappd?
No untappd for me. TMB is my social media. I think you’ll like Double Platinum. I’m tempted to get another one for the weekend.
