Unless they fall into some unforeseen rut, this team will be better than last year's. More depth with both the starters and pen, and we're generating offense even with half the guys below the Mendoza line.
Ugh, forgot about that. Miss him, not terribly bothered by the other two tbh. I think this current group will produce more strikeouts based on the metrics we've seen so far. Granted it's early, but they're on a great pace.
i would love to have greene back in the pen. he’s either a real shit head or wants way too much coin for 30 teams to pass on him
I know this is a stupid thing to expect but I really feel like we are going to make a move or two at the deadline. Similar to 2019.
Damn good win last night. With a healthy Martin, the pen is solid enough to get to July then getting an addition. If Martin’s shoulder deal is serious, they’ll really need a couple good reinforcements. Otherwise, 3B and SS are the two obvious places to keep an eye on in the first half of the season re: potential deadline moves.
Rosenthal said they're around $5M of flexibility, but there's also been reports at various times this offseason that they backed out of a $9M deal for Kirby Yates due to his shoulder, and made an offer on Trevor Rosenthal. So there's some room to expand that if they were making those kinds of overtures.
I mean, I’m not trying to replace him tomorrow or anything. But he’s got to stay healthy, and he’s got to get going at the plate. Hopefully last night jump started things.
If we do anything to help the lineup it’s at third base. Highly doubt replacing shortstop is even on the radar.
Bae and Riley not hitting is pretty rough with Pache mixed in. Bae had a good spring and nice last year so I'm less concerned with him.
Riley has actually made good contact and been a victim of bad luck/good defense positioning. So Bae might actually be the concern. Idk too early to say.
We have to prospects, but we don't have the financial backing or motivation to do it. We'll stay cheap, prospect heavy, and just good enough with Ron and Fred to keep people interested
Finding a good hitting SS is hard and doubt we could get one. We'll live with Dansby playing good defense, having some solid 3 week runs 2-3 times a season, and then being a near black hole the rest of the time. It's just what he is right now, unfortunately. 3b/Jram should be a heavy target but we are poor and it isn't gonna happen
