I think I have a bad cork on a bottle delivered today. Of the four bottles shipped it only happened to one bottle and it was one of the central bottles. Using logic I wouldn’t imagine that would be an issue with shipping temp. I have never had an issue with shipping problems. Should I contact the winery?
This is probably as good as any wine I’ve ever had from Napa. Super concentrated. 2008 Dalla Valle Vineyards Maya
Already bid on four bottles for the upcoming WineBid auction 2 bottles of 2016 to kalon highest beauty —very excited have been looking for this for awhile 1 2016 realm to kalon 1 2012 kata beckstoffer bourn-I will basically buy any bottle of kata that is available anywhere. My absolutely favorite
This is a really old quote but a question came up that you may be able to answer. Those Barberescos on the top row have several different names. I think I see Ovello there and I have some that says Asili. What’s the difference? Is it designating producers, vineyards or something different.
Those are the vineyards within Barbaresco. Particularly in Piedmont, Burgundy, and Champagne you'll see producer, village (or appellation), and then vineyard if it's a single vineyard or "cru". So for those wines, the producer is Produttori del Barbaresco from the DOCG of Barbaresco and the Ovello vineyard, Riserva designate (aging implication). On the right, you've got the producer of Malvira, from the appellation/region of Reoro, and the cru/vineyard of Trinita, Riserva designate. Couple things to look out for to indicate producer in Italy will be stuff like "Azienda Agricola", "Produttori", or stuff that reads like someone's name. Then it's just learning the regions and their associated styles–Barbaresco = Nebbiolo, same with Reoro and Valtellina, Toscana = usually Sangio, etc.
In my experience it ain’t worth it! The best rose I’ve ever had was in Provence a few summers ago and it was like 35 euros at a 2 star Michelin restaurant. Scenery and food (and maybe the edible) probably contributed to me loving it so much of course.
fuck I love rose- I will not hide my love of it either Ohh you dudes are all drinking ipas and bourbon- this pink stuff right here is better trust me
the people who winebid use to ship have attempted twice to delivery to my office. once on wednesday at 6:45 and once yesterday at 8:20 tight.
Rough week for the wallet. Morrell grabbed some extras of PYCM's first drop of 19s, Ceritas allocation hit yesterday morning, and on Sunday I grabbed a bunch of old Cali Syrah, young Corton-Charlemagne, and sticky riesling. One of those fucking weeks.
Well, it’s a bit of a splurge for Rose but I highly recommend this for anybody. The Rouge is really good too. Mourvèdre
I'll never forget how bad my bank account got its shit rocked my first trip to France. Those damn champagne carts are brutal. You're like 150 Euros deep before any food has hit the table.
I was on a posting roll and that sounds more niggling and less je nais sais quoi than intended. Looks great.
3 more bottles of kata via winebid on sunday. not sure how many of you have had cab from the beckstoffer bourn vineyard, but if you're into that sort of thing i can't recommend it highly enough. i lost 2 bottles of opus one to a guy in a golf bet. we had a party and poured that and then after i poured two bottles of the b cellars beckstoffer bourn. everyone agreed it was better than the opus and got 5-6 requests for me to get bottles for people
Did NOT mean to open this bottle. Thought I was grabbing the 17 Sonoma Coast. Saw 2019 on the cork and panicked. Guess it’s fine for a rainy Tuesday night.
Just ordered wine racking for the new house and a case of big table farms Pinot for the wife since it’s not showing up in Ohio yet
Wife and I are looking to book a trip this weekend for July. Opting to do a wine region trip to the west coast as she hasn’t been to that part of the country really. And can’t do a drive there unlike New York. If we are deciding between Napa/Sonoma/Walla Walla what would the recommendation be? We like everything from reds to whites and really liked that aspect of the Okanagan Valley given the variety.
If you want diversity of styles, Napa isn't your best bet. Sonoma is the size of Rhode Island, so best bet is to limit/pick one or two specifics parts. I think Russian River/Dry Creek is a great weekend, same with Carneros/Sonoma Valley. I wrote a tour guide on the latter: https://www.winestyr.com/blog/places/winestyr-weekends-sonoma-valley-and-carneros
