first impressions after reading through the item changes: icefrog wants a spell caster meta. no more super hard bfury carries who at 30 min can run down and kill everyone.
Deleted necro books. Wow. Overall like the changes. cast range nerfs on my 3 favorite heroes and nerf to aether cast range feels bad man
some other thoughts having read through the hero changes: - they completely changed brood with spiderlings being an ult. so many heroes will be able to lane against her now. seems like a massive and unnecessary nerf.. - it only sort of matters for turbo but morphling's new level 25 talent of attribute shifting while stunned is ridiculous. just an insane talent. - they buffed necro's spells but imo the problem with that hero is his ms. - no real nerfs to ogre, who is ridiculous in turbo. - slark's shard seems really powerful for making fights go longer - from a usability standpoint, i love the changes to storm. i never used the extra keys. - we had a sven dominated meta for a while, he was nerfed for one patch and now he gets buffed again - troll shard is so good. i wonder if troll can be run as offlane or support and just try whiring axe in lane + buy aghs and shard for team buffs/dispels. plus you can always rosh with him and he's hard to kill with ult. - with bfury nerf, I'm surprised magnus was also buffed. seems like we're going to see more magnus supports again. - open wounds is super fucking broken. like a much better tag team. must-buy shard. - LC's. shard is also way too powerful. omniknight was super busted when he had spell immunity spells and LC can fit more roles than omni can.
New hero seems a little underwhelming. Falls off mid game I think. Likely played as a 2-3 position. aesthetically/stylistically tho I like her
maybe. i was watching high MMR games with her in it. any stun fucks her up her whole kit. i'm sure it'll get better as people figure out builds/strats.
ppd was playing it on stream as a 5 earlier and it seemed pretty good. the spin spell makes her relatively tough to kill and her ult combos with stuns for easy stun locks. someone in twitch chat said the spin was broken af with echosabre but i haven't seen that yet
That twitch comment was probably based off a Reddit comment cuz I saw the same. I tested it in a demo but I didn’t notice. Not sure I believe it.
Played against one last night in some drunken stomps with Handcuffed. Double bracers into heart... would just stroll into fights and be unkillable. At least that's what little I remember.
a couple of months ago, i tried out a beastmaster aghs + radiance build in turbo as a mid hero the logic was that the axes amplify damage and radiance pumps out a lot of damage/gives evasion. so if i landed two axes (4 stacks), that's axe damage + a ton of damage amp. anyways, the build was garbage. maybe it's better now without necros. or maybe someone who can micro the boars better than me would do it better. in turbo (where getting this much farm is practical), something like aghs + radiance + k&s + shivas (or maybe even dagon for fun) could work.
Problem is you need to be tanky for radiance to be good, otherwise you walk in and die. Not only do you need burn damage to add up over time, but to get right click damage you have to be in melee. Rad and Aghs eat 9k gold and don’t make you tanky. Shivas or even casual plate mail seems mandatory. Hood is super good right now and so is vanguard
You guys are spending way too much time thinking through this. Just go witch blade deso Dazzle, grab your shard, and hex the world.
anyone playing these days? i finally got my laptop fixed so my keys work and i don't have issues with spells have been getting dumpstered in my games for the last 2 days, though. I'm still not used to the patch, hero changes, and the new trees+towers
I’m in a tough spot because I’m at my appropriate mmr for playing as a 4-5, but way out of my league as an Offlane or carry, and crazy out of my league as a mid. so whenever I want to play those roles, we basically instantly lose.
And we attempted this into a STR-heavy lineup. In doing so, we underestimated the inherent stupidity of playing it into their BKBs and blademails.
anyone have tips for either of these two heroes? I've finally learned the individual spells for invoker with maybe 90% accuracy but i don't really know how to combo + what to do. trying to learn exort before quas/wex but I'm sometimes getting dumpstered in lane by spell casters. i think I've figured out tinker in late game when I'm farmed and can easily cast lots of rockets + aghs lasers but the marches don't seem to do that much vs turbo waves. i can't ever seem to actually push waves, just stalemate them and sometimes get ganked also, I've ran into a ratting NP in at least 5 of these games. my pc crashes in about 50% of my games' ban phases so i can't actually ban it. maddening.
What's the reasoning behind the bots level 2 on Tinker so often? Personally I think aghs or something is a lot more valuable.
There’s a custom game for basically practicing invoker spell combos. If you want to get better at him I’d just hit that up for a while. I did that and you get better with them surprisingly quickly. The hardest part of invoker for me/why I wasn’t good with him was determining when you need to fight and when you need to farm.
i had aghs in every game there but i bought the blessing so its not in my backpack. i usually go right into Aghs after BoTs but have gone Aether the last couple of times. i go BoTs 2 because my turbo games are basically just perma-fighting and a lot of times i don't have a place to TP to by the time i can get to the fight.
also, there's really not much to buy with tinker late game relative to other heroes. no need for a moonshard. the shard is good but i haven't actually played with many melee carries in my games for some reason and I'm not always in the fight at the very start. the builds recommend the strength blink but i think that gives away position too easily and supports in turbo are super farmed so they can blink into trees and kill me. and obviously arcane blink is not that valuable given tinker's kit. i've sort of had issues itemizing late game and find myself preferring bots2. i still need bottle to accelerate regen in fountain and i have sold it a lot but it seems like i need soul ring for fighting so i can get a couple more rounds of spells off or always have mana to TP. so it seems like i need to juggle those slots and have 5 left. boots + dagon + aether (no real need for octarine?) + blink + one more... kaya? bloodstone isn't really useful either. e blade? i really liked the enhanced euls for a little more save but that doesn't increase damage late game.
Gotcha. Didn't realize you had the aghs upgrade or that these were turbo games! I play Tinker a lot but never in turbo. In regular mode after I get travels I just try to keep waves pushed and show up for fights.
