Also, before you go to a game make sure to buy a parking pass on the MLB app. We tried 4 gates and no cash/card at any, just mobile prepay.
Flanny’s Matheny rant. I hated the hire, but like I’ve said recently, he isn’t managing like the guy I thought we hired.
Looks like it's deleted. But yeah I'm shocked that I actually like the guy. My cards friends laughed their asses off when we hired him but he's been about a perfect manager here
I just checked and his tweets are still there, I noticed a lot of tweets aren’t embedding this morning. What I’ve heard/read about the bullpen is he’s going completely matchup based. So if there’s a runner on in the 5th and 2,3,4 are coming up he’s calling in Davis to shut it down and maybe our 4th or 5th best reliever will get the 9th depending on how the game shakes out. Also we have to remember the relievers have to see 3 batters now so no more calling in the loogy to get that one out.
In a vacuum, there's no logical reason Heath isn't in the current Dyson role. But I love Dyson more than my own children so IDGAF
Alec Lewis most recent article on the Athletic touches on this. He goes to the pen before each series and lays out who each individual pitcher matches up best against and where they sit in the lineup and tells them to be ready for use at that time. I fucking love it.
I'm not a Hos fan at all but this is a good thread. I like this new Flanny Andy Mccullough needs to tweet secrets now too
I remember when Hoz whiffed that play in game 1 vs the Mets the whole MLB contingent of the board was shitting on a 4 time gold glover. Got in a huge argument that night. His range analytics were always crap (like Flanny said to his right) but we always played him tight to the line. In our park if a ball gets past a 1B on their left it’s a stand up double or a triple if the batter has speed. Yeah we gave up more singles in the hole than we needed to but that’s how Ned wanted that played.
Yeah I about died at that play. And at the time I thought his range was overrated. But in hindsight, I appreciate it.
Why are you posting porn on this board? That was legitimately one of the top 5 moments of my entire life.
Flew in for this game. From the Esky inside the park hr to the game saving dinger by Alex, that game will always be the highlights of my Royals fandom. Slightly greater than slamming beers in the parking lot before buck night in hs hoping for a Krispy Kreme dozen game.
I spent roughly 4k for tickets on the '14 playoff run. Couldn't afford the 15 run. I'm sad about it. I would have cried had I seen the Gordo bomb in person.
Even though we lost, I'll go to my grave saying that the 2014 game 7 mad bum game was the best sporting event I've ever attended. That atmosphere was insane.
I was in Portland for 14 so I watched it all on TV. Went to every home game in 15 playoffs except game 1&2 of the series. We figured it would go at least 6 so we sold those tickets to upgrade for games 6&7. Still have no regrets. A friend asked me if I would rather we win in 5 or have it come back to KC. 100% said win in 5.
Was damn near the top row upper deck behind home plate but I had a great view of Gordo to dead center
