From the athletics 7 round mock: Miami Dolphins RD. PICK PLAYER 1 6 Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida 1 18 Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State 2 36 Javonte Williams, RB, North Carolina 2 50 Carlos Basham, edge, Wake Forest 3 81 Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, USC 5 156 Robert Jones, OG, Middle Tennessee 7 231 Ian Book, QB, Notre Dame 7 258 Ta'Quon Graham, DT, Texas
you take parsons over Harris and not think twice can get a RB like Williams in the second or even later for a guy like Sermon
If Pitts is gone, how pissed will everyone be if we take Sewell and hope a weapon falls to 18? I would be OK with it because I do think Sewell is a future all-pro type OL. I think maybe we could grab a guy like Bateman at 18 that can still be very productive. Also wouldn't be totally blown away if Waddle fell into the teens...probably not all the way to 18 but into reasonable trade up range if we'd like.
I think addressing the OL with another top pick after taking 3 in the first 4 rounds last year would be disappointing I could be wrong but it seemed like the plan was to address both lines last year and to go skill players this draft, address the roster from the inside out
I think that was the plan, but despite the draft picks, do you think the OL has been fixed? Because addressed and fixed are two very different things. I don't feel like it is fixed or is a place where we have a surplus talent. I certainly wish it were fixed because we've spent a lot of draft resources on the OL the last 6-7 years going back to J. James and don't ever seem to have much to show for it. OL is a need but weapons are a more pressing need. I hate to play both sides of the coin but I would love the Sewell pick if we also were able to land a good pass catching weapon at 18 or with a trade up... but that's the risk you take if you draft him at 6 I guess.
haha! I think Hunt and Kindley showed they could at least hold their own, but I remain very worried about Jackson. Flowers is OK and his contract makes him basically uncuttable for the next year. if we took Sewell I guess it would be Hunt/Jackson battling for RT in 2021 and then move Hunt inside in 2022 when we likely move on from Flowers.
Jackson looked competent until he was hurt. All these rookies got virtually no offseason last year and got thrown right into it and held there own. I think when you consider that and the fact that Jackson is one of the younger players in the league last year, you’ve got to at least give him another season before you move on from him. I wouldn’t hate the Sewell pick at all, but would rather pitts/chase/smith at 6 and a center later honestly
I can see something like Chase/Pitts at 6 and Creed Humphrey at #18. I honestly don't think Humphrey makes it to #25. A lot of mocks have him in the 2nd and I see no reason why an athletic freak at C with production to go with it isn't an easy selection in the back half of round one. Centers are gaining ground on LTs in positional value. Open sets and quick passing games are lowering the value of LT (to a degree) because both your tackles are often on an island and QBs are getting rid of it sooner or breaking out the pocket. Its putting more value on the guy calling the protections and dealing with the interior freaks up the middle.
Think you're on to something with Humphrey at 18, especially if you buy the story that Miami wanted Ruiz in the 1st last year.
I definitely buy the Ruiz story. Makes too much sense. Soon as he's picked we panic sold and dropped down.
iirc creed had a disappointing final season compared to the one before if he is gone by the second, go Dickerson and run the ball down teams throats
Used to piss me off how obsessed the media was with urlacher while ZT was the best LB in the league during a period there. Yes- I’d argue better than Ray Lewis too.
sad that the best Bama player we’ve ever had and maybe the best first round pick of my lifetime we traded after a year but hopefully soon we will have some more!
Was he hurt last year? Seems like he hasn't had much hype in FA for a guy that's been a decent OT. I like the signing.
played G a lot too Seems like maybe we trade Flowers to get rid of that contract? Then again it’s only one more year but we have a lot of OL now
If the Fins somehow walk out of the 1st round (even if they have to trade up again) with Pitts and Smith...
Any talk at all of adding a free agent edge rusher on a cheap 1 year deal? Or we looking like we are going with a rookie?
this front office seems doesn’t seem to big on bringing in older over the hill non patriot free agents
