Golden doodle, but her coat looks more golden than doodle at the moment. IMO it looks great. Haven’t had a puppy since growing up, but when my wife’s allergies made it clear we’d have to pay for one, I pushed hard for getting a young puppy in order to get the whole experience. Wife and I couldn’t be happier. Enjoy
Cedric was gone all day getting his stitches removed from being neutered so they wouldn't leave each other's side last night.
I thought we had been pretty vigilant with the pup while waiting to get her shots/vaccines. While we were playing in the front yard last Thursday, a neighbor who happens to be friends with my wife walked by with her ~20 week old dog. Neighbor said her dog had gotten all of its vaccines and they said they had been cautious before that, so we let her dog play with our pup for about an hour. Last night, the neighbor texted my wife saying her dog has parvo. So far, so good for our pup. Took her to the vet this morning, and they said come back Friday for a parvo test. Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out what to do to my front yard to get rid of parvo since the neighbor's dog pooped in it, and I'm realizing this is going to be a huge hassle until we're hopefully in the clear and the pup is fully vaccinated.
My boy has gotten into the bad habit of peeing on people's legs when we go to the dog park? Has anyone experienced this or have any tips to stop it? He's got a reputation for it now
This little one celebrated her first birthday on Saturday. We had to send her to overnight camp (we were gone for the weekend), but she had a great night. she’s been a handful, but the best thing we’ve experienced this past year. So happy to have miss Ruby
Anyone have their dog get a wart? If so, did you get it removed by your vet? Our dog (1 year old Golden) got sent home from doggy day care this morning as it appears she has one on her mouth. We are going to the vet on Saturday to confirm and hopefully treat Issue is we are going out of town for a few days over Memorial Day. Dog boarding place said warts are very contagious so she can't come if she has one. The internetz says warts naturally go away over 1-3 months so that timing isn't ideal. When I had warts as a kid, I had them frozen or cut off so I assume the same thing can be done here. Being on her lip though, I'd guess they would need to put her under to do it. Not a huge deal but impacts cost to treat quite a bit.
Me: OK, you're welcome to live here with a few rules. 1, no getting on the patio furniture. Cedric 1 month later:
My wife likes to take our Husky to the park. Sometimes, she decides to take him on the paved trail for a little walk, and sometimes on the unpaved trail to go check on her birds nests (she volunteers at the park). This last time was a disaster. Have pulled probably 20 ticks off him over a week. I told her she can no longer take him with her to check on the birds.
Today my dog is being put down after nearly 12 years. When I first got her in college I had suffered a major injury where I was hospitalized, so I couldn’t really go out or do anything for about a year. I ended up getting a puppy to pass the time while I pretty much never left my apartment; she got me through two breakups and multiple other things. Truly is and was an amazing creature. As a 19 year old, the first thing I ever taught her was high 5/shake, so I made sure to get one last one in. RIP Simone
My girl kept me awake crying during the storms this week in Atlanta. The Thundershirt doesn't work well, collar doesn't work at all, meds kind of work but she acts like an addict, so we are trying other avenues. One of those avenues is the happy hoodie in an attempt to muffle the noise of the thunder. (We are also trying this shit: https://www.charlottesweb.com/all-charlottes-web-hemp-cbd-supplements/cbd-hemp-extract-for-dogs)
Major UTI but thankfully they don't believe there's any stones. They felt on her stomach and couldn't notice anything and she doesn't seem to be in any pain. She was wanting to play with them and rubbing up against them. They gave me some antibiotics and said if I still notice blood after the next couple of days, to bring her back in. Scared me half to death.
Yep. Shockingly she keeps it on. However; she constantly tries to rip off her muzzle the only 2 times I've ever seen her in it.
Had 10 days away from the boy for vacation. Took him out to BrewDog after his time in boarding. They did a great job of wearing him out. Also, notice the scars on his paws? When we first went to see him as a puppy, he didn't have those. A few weeks later when he was ready to come home, we were told he had to have a hernia surgery, and the scars were now present. We have no clue what they're from, but he's nearly 3 now and they're still present. We thought maybe from shaving for an IV, but hair would have grown back. Then thought maybe he had to be strapped down (seems excessive). They don't hurt him or anything, just something we've always wondered about but will never have an answer.
