Anyone watch the premiere tonight? Seven-episode miniseries. I thought it was really good. Solid potential and I'll continue watching. The first five episodes were released to critics and the feedback I've seen has been overwhelmingly positive. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10155688/
Spoiler Who are you referencing? I really have no idea. It feels weird how a best-selling author ends up in that place but he seemed to be with Mare when it happened.
Spoiler I am thinking the priest. He just seemed like less likely to suspect and close to Mare. Complete guess obviously.
Maybe I missed it but Drew’s mother was never mentioned correct? He’s Mare’s son’s son (who died somehow) but no mention of where his mom might be
It looks like her character is getting introduced in the next episode based off the preview after the first episode.
I think it might be Roy...he seemed to want to throw Mare off by saying he got a sense Erin had issues at home
They've done a great job of showing the neighborhood as a whole and how everyone is connected or whatever. But remind me -- why did Erin's friend go to that family at the end to tell them the secret? I know the mom is BFFs with Mare, but what's their connection to Erin? Is the mom of that household Erin's mom (but obviously separated from her alcoholic dad)?
He did walk into the bar that night when Mare was with the writer dude, but that certainly doesn't make him innocent depending on when the murder happened.
Just finished the first 2 eps, this show is very good and will be appointment viewing for the next 5 weeks.
I was wondering the same thing but I don’t think Mare would go straight to her so matter of factly with the news of her daughter’s death, plus she had little to no reaction when she went and woke/told her husband. Plus it was alluded to Erin’s mother no longer being around when she was telling her friend about how she missed dancing with her mom.
I suppose it could make sense for Mare to tell her (Lori) about Erin given that they’re BFFs & she’s married to Kenny’s (Erin’s father) cousin and would want some support while breaking the news but even for it just being your cousin-in-law’s daughter I thought her reaction was really cold and detached. No idea of Lori’s relationship to Erin’s friend & her family though. Can’t understand why it’d make sense to go to her first unless she’s in some sort of position of authority
Maybe they went to mare’s BFF since she had info that potentially implicated mare’s ex-husband? Maybe seeking advice re: next steps in talking with mare or looking for the BFF to break the news?
He seems like a fuckboy. Mare can do better. Actually maybe she can’t given the options in that town.
He's in the new Amazon Prime flick 'Without Remorse', complete with a decent haircut. Too bad the movie isn't decent.
This is spectacular thus far. I hope that awful little red head girl gets monkey shit flung at her at the least
Spoiler For most of the episode, I kept thinking “I really don’t like Mare”. She makes terrible decisions and can’t control her emotions. Looking forward to next week.
HBO has really found a way to continue the progression from True Detective -> Sharp Objects -> Mare of Easttown.
Mare is actually the perfect female dirtbag equivalent to Woody Harrelson’s character in True Detective.
