If you missed it, he's one of the Vallejo cops accused of participating in a "vigilante" team of LEOs tracking their kills by bending their badges That footage is from 2 yrs ago
This is a good piece. Meyers makes it very clear that he has developed professionally and psychologically within a broken culture that embues him with a false sense of his abilities and moral superiority. (Not that he himself feels that way, of course)
https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/...fs-deputy-after-calling-911-for-help/2649178/ This one is real close to where I live. Going to be interesting to see how the cop went from giving this guy a ride home to coming back and shooting him 10 times.
There are about 20 posts in the Columbus thread talking about interactions with police. There is almost no reason for blacks people to interact with police.
They won't release it bc it's bad for them. When it's good, it's out in hours. See Ohio. State police confirmed that they have body camera footage of the shooting but said they will not release it publicly.
State police confirmed that they have body camera footage of the shooting but said they will not release it publicly. Needs to be a federal law that body camera footage is released to the public. Transparency is a MUST in today's climate. What are you hiding?
Also, did I miss the story on cops in NC killing a man who was trying to flee a warrant, in his car? Community awaits bodycam footage from NC shooting
Man, its so weird that they released that Columbus footage almost immediately. Wonder if there were any ulterior motives?
First they have to get a narrative that fits the video. Let the narrative be repeated enough to be engrained in a certain part of the population. Then the release of the video will happen. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
about a month ago I was in a bad place. While in a session with my therapist she said something like “I’d tell you to call 911 if you need help but I’m afraid that might make things worse”, I knew exactly what she meant but it still made me feel kinda helpless. Luckily I’ve been doing better.
Cops hate doing paperwork so much so that requiring them to do paperwork when they use force is a good way to get them to stop killing people.
Sounds like they need busy work/community outreach to keep them out of trouble. E.g. at the end of the day, you have to prove that you spoke to 20 people on your beat as a part of promoting safety and community relations.
State of emergency declared prior to release of bodycam footage, 7 officers on administrative leave, 2 officers have resigned, 1 has taken early retirement. An understatement that this is going to be bad.
Caught a little bit of the presser. Crump made it sound like they werent publicly releasing the video
Ben Crump seems like a damn good man but I'm tired of seeing him. Seeing him means a person of color was killed, normally by a cop. Nothing against him personally, just sucks seeing him so damn often.
I was reading a little on this yesterday. Apparently in NC the police don’t have to release the video. It has to be done by court order. I’m sure they’re slow playing the process as long as they can.
