Nice. That's a lot of streamers/buggers. Here's what I've got in mine (tied all but 2). I'm hard on flies. Plus some other flies I've been tying.

when im fishing for smallmouth i lose so many on rocks. i strip or nymph slowly along the bottom. i seem to either be fishing a size 2-6 or a 16-20 with little in between.

hell of a box without buying any. have you painted any beads? i have a number of brass beaded flies and want to dull them up some.

I've used a sharpie to blacken some before, it did ok, but was tough to do. You can see a few like that on the streamers with the white tail at the top of the box on the bottom. I bought some black tungsten beads that I use on darker patterns, and I kind of like them on some of the standard patterns like prince nymphs too.

And I'm like you, I've probably lost 50-75 in the last year to rocks, logs, or trees. It may not be much cheaper to tie my own, but I can replace what I want when I want, and make some changes as I want them to be.

For a light tackle set up. Moderate light/fast action or light moderate action rod.

i have a light/fast mojo inshore that broke but I can upgrade for like 30’dollars more and they don’t have it in the avid series

i'll try a sharpie. i have noticed on the davidson a lot of black stoneflies in like a 16 or 18 so i bought some. they were supposed to come with a tungsten bead, but arrived with brass instead. the place i order from will have some variance in material, colors, and hook shape from time to time, this is the first the beads have been different. i saw stoneflies crawling up my waders this weekend on the watauga too, a first for me there, and they were big suckers too, around a 10-12.

Reading their website I found this:
“From the 8’ heavy power, fast action (TIS80HF) rod I like for tarpon and cobia right down through the 7’ light power, moderate action (TIS70LM) I love for seatrout, the Tidemaster Series covers all the bases.

Seems like the light power/moderate action would be best for trout, slot reds, flounder etc.

that is what I’m leaning now. The light/fast action one was hella fun catching a 30inch red on with a 1000 reel

Not sure what you are actually asking here. Every manufacturer uses the ratings differently. Look at the lure weight and line rating (though make sure the line is braid, not mono rating)

I actually cleaned up my collection a few months ago. I have 3 light rods now. Then two medium bait chunking rods and 2 XH tarpon spinners.

I got this star as more of a back up, but used it a lot this winter. 8lb braid, 2500 Penn, sight casting small winter baits. Listed as light-fast

Shimano with 10 lb braid. 2500 stradic. I use this one all around. Docks, blind casting, mangroves. Throws a bigger bait better than the star like plugs and bigger jerk baits. Listed as med-light fast

10 lb braid, stradic 2500. This is 15 years old and the best spinning rod I own to this day. It's relegated to sight fishing open flats as I am afraid of breaking it now that they don't make these anymore like this. Listed as med-light mod-fast lol

Yah 1000 reel is crazy light. I think most of mine have been 2000-3000. I think the stradic 4000 is more like a 3000 in anything else.

Also, my outboard was overheating last time out in March. Just got it back yesterday. Holy shit is everyone backed up. Took two weeks just to look at it, then went to back of line, then two weeks get it back. Only took a day of labor but $1,100 later I'm back with a clean bill of health. Hopefully get a few more years out of my '95 Johnson

There is no uniformity in tackle. A 3000 from one company could be a 4000 with another.

Also rods are about your own preference, but I would absolutely get a ML (Moderate to Fast)if I was in a kayak or wading - and really if youre throwing plastic or anything to trout.

warrantying my Smiths today and they require you to destroy the lenses and submit photos of the destroyed glasses. so, I just scratched X's on perfectly good chromapop lenses. shed a little tear.

Did some creek fishing for the first time ever. Real small stream with a bunch of beaver dams at various points. Made for some real slow moving water in big pools and then narrow fast moving portions.

I’m still not too confident with the fly rod so I used a spinner. Caught most of these on different Panther Martin patterns. Mainly black w/ yellow spots and yellow w/ red spots.

I have never used Costa, but i have loved these Smiths. the warranty replacement value was about $50 more than I originally spent on these Lowdowns and i'm going from a mirrored rose lens to a mirrored copper.

copper is what i've heard for trout streams as well. there is a more budget brand which i've gotten a few of over the years called Guideline. they're actually very light and have decent lenses, so I use them when i'm driving and save my Smith's for time on the water.
