My wife just mentioned Evelyn as a possibility for the girl we have on the way. I kinda like it and immediately thought of this thread's Evelyn tangent.
I think that’s more of a British thing. I don’t think I’ve ever met a Liam. My mom wanted to have me go by that but my dad quickly shut that down
This made me think of this- Is it weird when parents name their kids shortened versions of names? Like Mike instead of Michael, Alex instead of Alexander, etc.
Do you mean name them that rather than just calling them that? If so, yes. A grown man with “Bobby” or “Billy” on his driver’s license probably has it on his work shirt, too.
Have a friend whose name is Drew and his brother’s name is Matt. Not short for anything. Just Drew and Matt.
There’s something very 1920’s about people doing this, definitely better than some of these modern make em up names though
This sounds like my moms side of the family. Pam, her twin brother, Pat. Older brothers: Dick, Bob, and Bill.
There have been a metric fuckton of Liams born over the last 10 years. Last year I could find is 2018 but it was the most common U.S. baby boy name that year. Liam is the new Aiden.
