Elijah Craig 18 is smooth but 100% overoaked, and definitely not worth the price tag in my opinion. I love Elijah Craig barrel proof though
I know right? Truly wretched stuff. Just send it all to me fellas, it’s the least I can do foe the thread.
What's the prevailing thought on New Riff Single Barrel store picks? So many people seem to have this lately and at a decent price, but I am not a huge fan of 4 year old bourbons in general, and I think that is what it is (could be wrong).
I know nothing about NULU but we have 2 new store pics from them. From the company Prohibition .Thoughts? NULU Aged 5 years 2 months 21% Low Rye mash bill from MGP Bottled Cask Strength 120 Proof Barrel Yield 192 Bottles Price $78.97 + tax per with a 3 bottle person limit while they last! NULU Aged 6 years 4 months 36% High Rye mash bill from MGP Bottled Cask Strength 119.2 Proof Barrel Yield 159 Bottles Price $95.32 + tax per with a 3 bottle person limit while they last! Review of NULU from Breaking Bourbon: Prohibition Craft Spirits (PCS) was founded in 2016 and has become known for their sourcing of barrels for and private barrel picks for bourbon clubs, along with distilling other craft spirits onsite. Their Nulu Single Barrel line is sourced MGP bourbon that is bottled unfiltered at cask strength. The resulting bourbon provides a rich, layered bourbon that punches in above its short time in the barrel. While single barrels can always vary, if this barrel is any representation of their abilities to source barrels, color me impressed.
Pretty nice day out doing some shopping. Going to be a good start to having the next 2 days off for vacation.
Hey BrickTamland *slicks back hair* *puts on leather jacket and cigarette behind ear* *begins low snapping* Spoiler This post was brought to you by the fruitbarrellgang
Actually on second read that does sound pleasant. Calling it “sea grass” my assumption was it was going to be aged in islay barrels and finished with liquid smoke and old baseball gloves.
If by buying and selling you mean ripping each other off by charging more than we paid...then no. If you mean helping a brother out by paying it forward when we find something at a good price that is excess to personal needs...then yes.
I’m sure some of you guys have tried blood oath. Never had but I was 6th in line today and they had 6 so said what the hell. Did I waste $120?
I have this and tried it once and didn't like it. I love my #2 though. I'm just not a huge fan of cask finishing though, so if you are ignore me.
I think it is good and something different. Not $120 good but I don’t think you wasted $120 Whistle Pig style. Maybe $50
Pretty sure that’s MSRP, maybe $10 over. One of those fun bottles I’d love to try but it want to risk buying.
NYGator said it well. Pay the good karma forward and hook people up when you can. If you want to sell secondary, head to Facebook.
Fair enough. Referring to secondary prices as a “rip off” is a little dramatic though. I’d consider the stores that charge way more than secondary value to be the rip off.
As someone who pays secondary from time to time and also learned my lesson about overpaying early on when I joined this thread, it is not looked upon that favorably in this thread to buy on the secondary. I am just echoing the sentiment of how most of the people in this thread feel. In fact, it has become a badge of honor here to not pay secondary or store tertiary's. Trust me. I've been "ripped off" or paid secondary quite a few times. This is just 1/3 of what I currently have, so no way I got this all at retail. LOL
Stores charge secondary bc of the market. Do you not think they know what prices are going for on secondary?
I like the Old Scout and New Riff picks I have had. Would not mind if we ended up with a TMB pick of the MGP Old Scout.
So I rarely pay anything marked up. I hate the secondary market with a passion but it is what it is. Its because I remember what it used to be like in the late 2000s. The exception is me buying something like that is if someone in here is offering something for what they paid for it and I really want it. At the same time if I could only drink egbp and sw ucuf for the rest of my life is be perfectly content.
I don't have Facebook so I really don't have access to secondary, but I never charge mark up when selling bottles. Bad karma imo. Having said that, there are probably bottles I'd pay secondary for
