Had same issue last night. Flipped to game in 9th but only saw Rangers broadcast on my TV. I have the Yankees added to my library, so when I hit home, they always pop up first when they are playing and it takes me to the YES broadcast. Try that for the Padres.
Is there an Apple TV+ thread? This Trying show on there is nice. The main actress is adorable as well.
$10/mo off YTTV for Tmo/Sprint customers. Warning, more dubious language about the offer in the FAQ. E.G. You need to cancel your existing subscription and re-sign up through Tmobile, and I believe you might even pay Tmobile directly, either now or in the future. Cancelling may or may not delete your DVR, as well as reset your subscription length via Google, who often has its own offers like free Chromecast, etc. I'm sure reddit or w/e has done a deep dive to validate this or not. https://www.t-mobile.com/tvision?icid=MGPO_TMO_P_21TVISION_FQ5JFNZQV9FKMWLOY24288_HP
I contacted ATT TV the other day in regards to having the regional sports channels on the lowest streaming package. She said that it has been widely requested and they are working on getting that done. Feel like that's a bunch of bullshit, but hopeful. Would be nice to be able to watch Reds games this season without streaming.
I watch most games on DVR (start after putting kid to bed). Can't just record one team, have to record ALL BASEBALL. basically renders any other recordings impossible due to the ludicrously low limit.
I'm perfectly fine with my current gen ATV4K but will be buying that remote since it works with previous Apple TVs
Not great “Dear Roku Customer, We are sending this email to update you on the possibility that Google may take away your access to the YouTube TV channel on Roku. Recent negotiations with Google to carry YouTube TV have broken down because Roku cannot accept Google’s unfair terms as we believe they could harm our users. Ensuring a great streaming experience at an exceptional value is the core of our business. We will always stand up for our users, which is why we cannot accept Google's unfair and anticompetitive requirements to manipulate your search results, impact the usage of your data and ultimately cost you more. While we are deeply disappointed in Google’s decision to use their monopoly power to try and force terms that will directly harm streamers, we remain committed to reaching an agreement with Google that preserves your access to YouTube TV, protects your data and ensures a level playing field for companies to compete. We encourage you to contact Google and urge them to reach an agreement to continue offering YouTube TV on Roku and to follow standard industry practices pledging not to require access to sensitive search data or to manipulate your search results. Thank you, Roku”
Oh great. So I’ll have to buy a device to temporarily plug into my Roku tv while these jerkoffs argue.
Sounds like Google's trying to get Roku to list YTTV first in search results for content or something to that effect. It's curious that right now neither YTTV nor Sling appear to show up at all in Roku search results.
Tv habits data is probably the most insignificant hill to die on when it comes to Google data collection.
Just got that email too. Luckily I have a FireBox, but that's annoying. It's easier just using the built-in YTTV app.
Yeah that would be annoying to say the least. I'd have to use my Chromecast but the Roku is just way easier.
the Fox Sports Go app (Android TV) just changed it's name and logo to Bally Sports, so expect to see that on your tv/device soon.
Found this article via the thread on r/cordcutters: https://www.axios.com/roku-google-youtube-tv-dispute-525316c1-4d66-44e3-a96a-40db7b10e05b.html
started a Hulu thread that has since been converted to shows that are not Netflix. Doesn’t have much traction.
Dear Roku Customer, We are disappointed to share the news that Google has chosen to let the YouTube TV contract expire. While this news is unfortunate, we wanted to let you know that we are taking an extra step to ensure existing Roku users like yourself retain access to YouTube TV while we work to reach an agreement. We will always stand up for our users, which is why we cannot accept Google's unfair and anticompetitive requirements that would allow for the manipulation of your search results, impact the usage of your data and ultimately cost you more. Our commitment is to always put your interests first and therefore we will continue to offer existing users access to YouTube TV unless Google takes actions that require the full removal of the channel. New subscribers will not be allowed at this time. It is also important that you do not delete the YouTube TV channel as it will not be available for download to Roku devices. We remain committed to reaching a good-faith agreement with Google that preserves your access to YouTube TV, honors your desired search preferences and protects your data. We hope to update you soon. Thank you, Roku
The best way to service their customers is to offer access to the content their users want to stream.
As long as the current app continues to work that’s really all that matters for me I guess but it is annoying/concerning that as I start to look around at TV’s again I’ll second guess going the TCL Roku route
Not sure how soon you're talking but it's in both parties best interests to keep negotiating and get a resolution sooner rather than later.
Just like every other media carrier/network/platform dispute, it will eventually get ironed out. Then it will happen again. The cycle will continue to repeat until there is a new medium, and then it will repeat itself there.
well I guess it's a good thing I got that free chromecast from yttv I actually preferred the simplicity of the roku tbh though
Just paused my subscription until the end of August. I suppose it was only a matter of time before Google started acting like the cable companies they were trying to eliminate.
Really enjoyed yttv until they dropped regional sports networks. I've been thinking of canceling and this will probably do it.
To be fair, Google has always been about data collection and manipulating search results so what they're (allegedly) requesting in this negotiation isn't new. It's just that the climate is becoming increasingly more wary of those practices. Also, Roku is the leader in this particular space so they're leveraging that while they can instead of caving right away.
I just had an AT&T TV door salesmen try and convince me to leave YTTV. He said AT&T TV is now month and to month and only $72 or 73 after taxes. He also claimed that it has many more channels than YTTV but I just checked a comparison on CNET and that doesn’t seem correct. Is it worth leaving YTTV for AT&T TV? He also said I would be required to take a TV Box so he would get credit but I could stream everything on my firesticks.
I can’t imagine ever buying something from a door to door salesman in the age of the internet. If it was a good deal, I would have heard about it already
A door to door salesman trying to sell something you have to just sign up for on the internet anyway?! What in the world? Are you sure you didn't just let a dude in your house who was scouting your place to see what he was going to take when he robbed it?
Lol, I was outside doing yard work and he was walking the neighborhood. I know I can look online and I did, YTTV still looks like the better option. Unless this guy has the ability to set up a new customer incentive package, which most streaming companies rarely offer. Only asking if someone here has AT&T TV and do they like it.
A) AppleTV is the goat device. Never any issues or pissing contests over app agreements. B) I have YTTV now but will be switching to Hulu when the NHL package starts.
Signed up for the yttv trial. It is a little clunky on Chromecast, but it's really nice with the app on my smart tv
Works if you already have the app, but you can no longer get the app through roku as of this. So if YouTube stops supporting it or has an update that kills the old version, it’ll be dead, but it works for now.
