Don’t see Williams getting past NYJ or ATL I’d honestly offer a 5th or something to move up the spots
They have no choice. They MUST get Williams. Can’t go 2 drafts in a row missing on all the top end RBs with as many picks as they have.
Honest Phillips eval pros Can pass rush with the best of them. fast as fuck off the edge High motor (that double reverse int play against FSU Lot of potential. He turns 22 next month cons Sold out on the pass a lot. watch that UNC game. He would beat the shit out of the UNC tackle to the outside only for the run to go right between him and the DT. I want to believe it was a scheme issue, but when a team gashes the fuck out of you for 300+ on the ground and you keep selling out on the pass, wtf. Injuries. It’s well documented. look if the fins were going to take a pass rusher with pick 18 the homer in me wants it to be a cane considering there wasn’t a slam dunk guy at the top and Phillips or Rousseau were both worthy of a mid to late first, but this is a risky pick for obvious reasons. overall day 1 thoughts. They better pray pitts busts hard, waddle is tyreke hill 2.0, and/or the Niners fall flat on their face because they bet big on chase/pitts being there at 6 and lost.
I was on the record ITT as not understanding the Waddle top 10 hype so that was a bit disappointing to me. I preferred Smith and definitely wanted Pitts. Still wish we stayed at 3 and got him. But I'm not so dense as to not see the talent there. I get the potential. Ready to see it out and give the benefit of the doubt. And, like CaneKnight I'll be glad to get tagged and laughed at any time he's killing it.
Can't beat those numbers. Without the UCLA issues, he goes much higher in the draft. It's a swing for the fences pick, but it's about damn time the fins start taking them. Enough of these Charles Harris picks where its high floor low ceiling that never even find the floor.
Great thread for those of us needing a little reassurance. I've begun the process of convincing myself things will be fine.
Waddle is the best WR prospect to ever come out of Bama. His injury is the only reason why the Dolphins were able to get him at 6.
Going back on this now that I'm sober. You have been in this thread the past few weeks. I've been cheerleading for Pitts with Jigga and Jack Parkman and everyone else ITT. How did you think that I was being anything but facetious when I said that Pitts would bust because he was a Gator?
Wrong. Waddle is the most explosive and complete WR in Alabama history. Height doesn’t matter as much these days with the current offensive schemes.
The more I think about it...the more I’m in favor of sermon or hill in the 3rd and we got some combo of BPA/OC in the 2nd
If that's the case, they need to use multiple picks on a RB so they at least have multiple chances of getting someone who can play. Shit, even if they do get the UNC kid, take another RB on day 3.
I really want Javonte but unfortunately I think we'd have to trade up here to get him. He won't be there at #36.
We have tons of good options at 36. Ojulari, Javonte, Jenkins, JOK from ND I think he's a great LB and would be a good fit too.
JOK is small I just feel like we need a KVN replacement and I don’t think he’s it since he’s like 2 inches shorter and 20-30 pounds lighter some people have speculated he could be an in the box safety though
Some of those clips reminded me of how Ginn would just blow by dudes that had an angle like they weren't moving. Not comparing him to Ginn as a player or style-wise. Just that freakish speed that is immediately obvious.
Catching up on the draft thread and it's incredible to me how many people earnestly believe Tua only throws checkdowns and doesn't have an NFL-level arm. I mean Tua may not work out for a bunch of reasons like any other QB prospect but it's not going to be because nobody noticed his arm wasn't strong enough to play. I feel like I'm in the upside-down when I read those takes and then watch Waddle's highlight reel and see the Tua bombs. It's not a Mahomes cannon but it's plenty good.
Fair. I think we got the big thumper run stopper in McKinney already too. I just am not a fan of Baker, I think he's OK but not very good in coverage which is what we drafted him to do. Whenever we go against good TEs they kill us, I wouldn't mind drafting his replacement because I don't want to pay him big money next year. But the Dolphins may not feel the same way I do
Bama guys are always discussed like that on this board. In college we only win because our guys are so talented. But those same guys all suck in the pros and all that talent leaves the second they finish their final games, apparently.
that’s weird, Rowe is usually the one covering the TE’s and minus Waller I believe he was pretty good at that last year
Wishlist for round 2: Jenkins Williams Dickerson Humphrey BPA (which I guess would be JOK, Moehrig, Ojulari, Barmore)
Some talk that Dolphins value Carter higher (apparently coached him during Senior Bowl) and likely take BPA/OL at 36
So excited to see this offense. It's not top tier yet but holy cow is it gonna be a nice change from last year
