Somewhat removed and totally pie in the sky, but there's a lot of potential for investing in the human capital of immigrants who are coming to our country. Think about how many jobs could be created for Americans to help transition/educate people coming here, not to mention the ROI that the immigrants would provide.
Generally speaking, with rates of productivity as high as they are, bringing in new workers is the best way to grow the US economy.
There might not be a single thing we could do to build a more equitable country than universal free pre k. Medicare for all I guess but pre k is up there.
just imagine if Democrats won North Carolina and Maine. But instead we have to fucking deal with Manchin and Sinema.
he doesn't support the bill because he think it will go the supreme court. Well just vote for it and let's find out Joe.
Honestly if he consistently campaigned like he was just giving a speech at the fish fry at the sons of Italy lodge, he would have been president 25 years ago.
joe (me) thinks joe (him) doesn’t like it because adding more D senators makes joe (him) more irrelevant than joe (dump)
Lol, this piece of shit is going to singlehandedly give the GOP the mid-terms. Grow a pair and make him vote on it!
Can't wait for a conservative blogger to isolate the portion of the clip where he says Angelo's last name.
Yep. At the very least, return the filibuster to what it's supposed to be and vote on it. How is that in any way controversial?
Then elect republicans. I honestly don’t care. Be like me and vote Green. If someone better runs and losses than I understand the anger. If that pos is a better pos than the republican pos then I don’t get the point of the condescending “vote blue no matter who” shit. He is a pos but far better than anyone else who has ran (unless I missed something) in WV.
Swearingin. She lost in 2020 general and lost in 2018 challenging Manchin’s seat. Medicare for all, strong pro-union, legalize it, $15 min wage, free public college tuition. West Virginians, like most Americans, support these policies unattached to a political party. And like most Americans, they’re too god damned stupid to vote for candidates that would advance their interests.
The post you quoted was exactly mocking this sentiment, I don't understand why you were chiding it. Manchin was actually on TV saying that court packing wasn't off the table before Biden was elected and now he's acting as if he explicitly ran on the exact opposite. Establishment Dems were freaking out that Swearengin even challenging him would prevent the Dems from taking the Senate, yet the exact opposite happened and Manchin decided to fuck us anyways. Those people in particular can eat the corn out of my shit.
I think you misunderstood my post. I am chiding people that use that “vote blue no matter who” as an attack on those who say it is better to have a democrat in office than a republican. That’s why I called it condescending. I get the anger I too think he is a POS but I don’t think WV would elect anyone better so it’s him or someone is would be a lot worse. I gave up on the Democratic Party a long time ago but it doesn’t mean that I think they are as bad as republicans. I don’t think that “vote blue no matter who” is a bad strategy especially when the only other viable option is a republican. Now if there is a viable alternative then yeah it’s stupid but I haven’t seen that being the case in the US.
You're all over the place, it seems like in one breath you think the Democrats should be criticized and in another you're mocking progressives somehow for being responsible for the man who is single-handedly blocking meaningful progress if Democrats ever want to have a chance at maintaining the control in the Senate. Over a million people are not going to have meaningful representation in Congress, I think that's plenty reason for many of us to be angry at the party apparatus that seems to not be able to build control is effectively as Republicans.
I’m not a democrat. Criticize them all you want. I’m not mocking progressives at all. I don’t know how to explain it. I’ll try. It seems like someone better did run in WV and the democrats fucked that up. And that is a legitimate reason to be pissed off. I was unaware of that. My original point was chiding people for “voting blue no matter who” (when normally) the only other option is a republican seems dumb to me. That is why I originally replied to PG.
this is how I envision every lesson, interaction and activity I have/do in my classroom. I look to approach the day as I want my class to be the best/most positive experience of their day. I want laughter I want fun because I want the kids to enjoy themselves and have positivity experiences.
If they cant get shit done because of the Manchins of the world I will never vote again. Government is broken so why support it?
Frankly, I think it is worth just bringing every bill passed by the House to the floor and letting Manchin and Sinema write their own political death sentences. I’d call their bluff because I don’t think they really have the balls to sink HR1 or these infrastructure/jobs bills that are polling really well. We’ve already compromised on abolishing the filibuster so force one of these bills to enact the talking filibuster.
Due to population shift and gerrymandering, I'm really worried about the House in '22. Dems may net +3 Senate seats and lose the House, and that would just be atrocious.
