Getting the sense that Javonte is going to be there at 36 but Miami is going to pass. Doesn't make sense on the surface but people smarter than me (Chris Kauffman for one) keep alluding to the amount of guys with higher grades that are also going to be there when we pick.
I'd prefer Javonte or Humphrey but taking Moore or Marshall wouldn't be bad ideas. I really like the idea of Marshall pretty quickly becoming a cheap replacement for what Parker does. There really aren't many big bodies at WR this year who fit that profile. Nico Collins is interesting and fits the mold later in the draft but doesn't have the production of Marshall. More of a gamble.
While I love Moore, he is pretty strictly a slot and I don’t want that interfering with Waddle’s progress
Honestly I am just so tired of our LBs I think it was the only obvious weak spot of a good defense. Just give me some playmakers to bolster that group... I trust Flo will know what to do with them
i get that same vibe. I think we have some guy targeted in the mid rounds. Kylin Hill as my man Jack suggested would make sense
Random insider info. Rachad Wildgoose from Wisconsin is likely going to the eagles sometime tonight. The draft party is in my neighborhood and they are already partying hard.
I don't hate out LBs except that we don't have a guy who covers well. And that's kind of a rare trait. But that aside we have guys who fill their respective roles pretty well. Definitely down for JOK though
The point is we don’t have a glaring need there and drafting a safety at 36 is a weird move in the modern NFL If he works out fine but the value at that pick is not great
Holland is really, really good. I posted this on reddit but i'll paste it here: Prior to the 2020 season, Jevon Holland was commonly thought of as a mid/late first round pick. McShay had him 19th. Kiper had him 10th on his early big board. PFF had him as the 18th best prospect. Most other draft sites had him within that sort of range, too. Jevon Holland has played zero football since those early mock drafts and prospect rankings as he sat out the 2020 season. He re-emerged as a prospect by crushing his pro day, ending with a RAS score of 9.47 as a Safety. One of Holland's best assets is his positional versatility - PFF says he's been the best slot CB in college football and his RAS at CB was even better at 9.52. I personally think he matches Minkah Fitzpatrick's draft profile really well, which is ironic given that he was drafted by Miami. Their size/speed/play profile is quite similar. Holland is exactly what defensive coordinators want in their secondary: - elite athlete - positional versatility - high iq player (started as a true freshman; played in multiple schemes) - great ball skills (9 INTs in his two years + 11 PBUs) - young (would've been a true junior this year; only played two years of CFB) Draft profiles: TDN: https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/jevon-holland/aYpe9FYxXy PFN: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/jevon-holland-nfl-draft-player-profile-oregon-safety
If it helps he also seems to be a good dude off the field. Very much a leader. If he continues to find the ball he has the makings of a really fun player for Miami that fans will love
