It’s dumb but whatever. I’ll give the lottery luck to the Pistons this year. Just want the Wings to stick in the top 10.
Using GP for goalies for this season is pretty worthless. Would be interested to see what it was in previous seasons. Also still on the team of package the Washington pick and whatever it takes with the accumulated other picks to move up to 10-15 to get Wallstedt.
Lottery seeding going to come down to the wire. Wings are sitting at 45 points with 2 games remaining (both against Columbus) Columbus is sitting at 43 points with 4 games remaining (2 against Nashville, 2 against Detroit) New Jersey is sitting at 41 points with 5 games remaining (2 against Boston, 2 against the Islanders, 1 against Philly) Ottawa is sitting at 43 points and has 5 games remaining (2 against the Jets and 1 each against the Habs, Flames, and Leafs) These four teams are the most likely to finish 3rd-6th (adding in Seattle bumps everyone’s odds down one)
It’s a joke but I think with Seattle being in the lottery there is pressure to play these games so there isn’t an impact on the drawing.
We could but protecting him isn’t going to be an issue. I think at this point it’s best to sign him to a short term deal and then try to trade him if he’s healthy and producing.
We aren't going to have cap issues next year and he was one of if not our best forward when healthy. Don't see point of letting him go. Bring him back and flip him for an asset later if you want
Columbus being dumb and winning last night puts Detroit in the 5th best lottery odds. If New Jersey wins tonight we move up to 4th.
Rogle up 3-0 headed into the third. They are down 2-0 in the series. I’m pretty sure this is a best of 5 deal, so they are fighting for their playoff lives.
Some good results tonight, assuming Vancouver can make up 2 pts in 6 games at hand, we will be sitting around 3rd worst record. Unfortunately last 2 against Columbus so both winnable games. We gonna get screwed anyway and no generational #1 guy make me care less about that than the Pistons lottery odds.
It’s possible we can jump from 4th best odds to second best odds. If Anaheim wins both of their remaining games and we lose both of ours in regulation they would jump us and we would also drop below Seattle. On the other hand if we win both of our remaining games we can climb as high as 11th (not likely but possible).
A lot of people believe Blashill will be back next year. I don’t get it, unless Yzerman wants him to limit the teams upside for another year to test our lottery luck. I wouldn’t discount that notion, but playing for player loser points for another year or two makes me sad.
There are plenty of coaches worth pursuing. And while he’s been given a dog shit roster, there hasn’t been much improvement from any of our players under Blashill. Hronek’s progress stalled, Larkin has been inconsistent, etc.
Actually the finals might be best if 7. Not sure. Either way, I doubt Rogle can win this thing. I wouldn’t be shocked if Mo plays for Germany in the WC, but it wouldn’t be the worst thing for him to take the summer off.
Another reason I want Blashill gone. I'm not taking all the blame off Larkin, but his system is awful for any offensive player. And we have so many young forwards who have all stalled in their development under him
he averaged almost a point per game two years ago though, and is closer to 0.5 per game last two seasons. Not sure who gets most of the blame on this one.
He’s a guy that needs more talent around him to have his points go back up. Part of that could also be offensive system.
