What are you spraying to kill it? I bought some Atrazine but found some Image I had in a cabinet in the garage. Sprayed half the pump sprayer and then looked at the label.... "Do not use on St. Augustine"... I have St. Augustine. I am crossing my fingers I sprayed it early enough the grass was still dormant and it won't hurt it. Otherwise, its going to be a long summer trying to recover my grass.

I’ve wanted the home version of that for my garden but fortunately my self control has won out (so far).

I am due to put down my weed & feed application but the weather is not really cooperating in terms of rain or morning dew. My plan was do this by end of April, so I could add my 2nd pre emergent application around June 1.

Hoping I can get it down, but if not I was thinking just stick with spot spraying because my yard has minimal weeds compared to others in my area and then do an app of milo.

Any opinions on either route? Only reason I got the W&F this year is it came in the bundle I bought at the grass store.

Personally I'd just feed (NPK based on what you need) and handle the weeds with an appropriate post emergent both for the weed and the turf type.

I asked in the home owner thread too, but anyone have a good spray/concentrate for bugs (ants)?

Just something to spray around the perimeter of my house as a precautionary thing. Just like to do it when the weather warms up.

I usually spray permethrin or bifen or usually a combination of both

Just spray around the outside of the house/outside of doors? Or do you wait until you actually see anything

I try to spray a couple times a year around the whole perimeter
Usually remember to spray after I see something

Bifen and Taurus SC. Around foundation of house (3 feet up, 3 feet out), window sills, door thresholds.

I treat turf with Bifen (3oz/K) every 6 weeks or so.

Cooler temps over night let moisture stick around to long allowing mold and stuff to grow

New seed or sod you definitely need to keep it pretty saturated or almost consistently wet the first like 2 weeks

I'd try to make your last application around 3pm. Start early. Few times a day. Get down a preventative fungicide application.

This last part is very important. Go ahead and put it out, I lost about half my zoysia first summer to fungus cause I didn’t know what was happening. This is a good reminder for me to put mine out as well.

Yep. Brown patch can be brutal. Early spring and early fall applications are essential. Particularly in soil that doesn't drain well and/or is shaded. When night time temps are in the 50s and the soil is damp, it's an absolute breeding ground.

Unfortunately, get ready to open up your wallet on fungicides. I look at is as protecting my investment.

Moved into a new house and trying to learn how to create a great lawn. First step being identifying the type of grass I have

I’ve got a some weeds (already sprayed some Ortho) and a few dead spots I want to get working on. It’s in full all day sun so the yard gets absolutely baked.

Last night I found myself reading about esters and amines b/c I'm not having success with just p-e.

I have two different 2,4-d mixes ("trimec", "amine") which I'm deciding on. After that, I'll be mixing up after I've read the label through enough times to be prepared.

If this doesn't work, then no homeowner can expect to have success with weed control/suppression.

Lost my mind on my Toro recycler today. Threw it accross the yard. Convinced I have a lemon. Ive had my toro self-propelled recycler 22 for about 5 years now. In those 5 years ive had to clean the carb out probably 50 times, take apart damn near the entire thing about 10 times, took it to a mower mechanic twice, etc. Still have issues and couldn't even finish my yard yesterday. That was back when I didn't really research but this time I am pretty set on the honda. Correct move here?

Have you been using fuel additives?
Or maybe try switching to the bottle fuel from home depot

I have a pretty basic troy bilt push mower with a honda engine. Have had it for 8 years now and only thing I have ever had to do to it is change the oil. Starts first pull every time. I do use ethanol free gas but that's the only "maintenance" thing I do.

  38. LSU90

    LSU90 Well-Known Member

Use fuel stabilizer during times of the year when I know I won't be mowing as much. This toro requires no change of the oil even though I check it. Ive replaced the carb, air filter, etc. about everything you could clean or replace I have done.

Should I maybe try ethanol free gas or bottle fuel from home depot? I am out of things to try but I think if I can get it running good again I will use it for the summer then sell the piece of shit.

i'm about to move to a new place with a much smaller yard. I have a cub cadet z-force 44" zero turn mower (maybe 2014?) that will be major overkill at the new spot. I got it from a family member a few years ago, and it only has about 140 hours on it. does anyone have any idea what it might be worth? i also have dethatcher, cart, and spreader attachments for it.

i've tried researching online but i have found it hard to find info on mower sales.
