The Black Bay GMT and the Black Bay 58 (and the original too if you have bigger wrists) in all the colorways are top notch watches. As my friends here have so wisely counseled me, ALWAYS get the OEM steel bracelet because you will pay out of the ass if you want one down the line. Tudors tend to be incredibly versatile and perfect for all kinds of strap variations. The Pelagos could have been so special, in fact I would have bought one a long time ago if there was not 5 lines of text above the 6 o'clock. Also check out the new Black Bay Chronos. They have been getting rave reviews.
I have the Tudor GMT. See above for some wrist shots. Great value for the price, but get the bracelet in addition to the leather - tou live in FL and that thing will be a mess after a week.
Yea sorry for the confusion. Looking to buy in steel.and then adding the leather strap separately. The GMT is my favorite of what they have but don't want to be redundant with future purchases.
Heading to Las Vegas later this week. I’m sure I can buy a steel sports Rolex for retail with the seven retailers within a 5mi radius!
I’ve heard the JLC and Blancpain stores in the forums are great. I’d just as soon buy a speed master second hand for half the price.
There’s tons of speedmasters on Chrono24 for $2,500 that includes box and papers. Half price was hyperbole, but there’s definitely an abundance of them.
I’m just waiting for one of you guys to buy the lowly cheap laco decided they hate it and just send it to me no strings, other than the occasional knock knock joke.
Someone give me a video or two to learn about speedmaster professionals or Omegas I’m general. I’ve thought that if I was going to buy one, I’d put it off until I found a store that I could build a relationship with in hopes of buying an OP or no date sub. I’m pissed with the store that sold my my BB58, so aside from having a watch that I really like, that’s wasted purchase history.
Because there are 1.5 million diff versions of the Speedmaster. And $6k is low - I think some are $20k.
My limited knowledge of the current offerings is that the hesalite is plastic and, while less expensive, is more prone to scratches. So stick with sapphire.
Not true. That’s for the professional moonwatch. There are quite a few other options (racing, special editions, reduced, etc) that don’t have those options - they’re all sapphire. Hesalite v Sapphire (on the Moonwatch) comes down to how you wear watches. I’m not rough, have had mine for close to a year, and the hesalite has no visible wear. The other factor in H v S is an open caseback. Only the S has an open caseback.
I thought I loved open case backs, but having one on my Fuyugeshiki has made me realize that I really don’t ever look at it. Think I’m open to either crystal, but I’d prefer not having a date function. This would work: https://www.chrono24.com/omega/spee...tch--id19238198.htm?SETLANG=en_US&SETCURR=USD
I would also disagree with your assessment. hesalite >>>>>> sapphire The hesalite buffs out easily, if scratched It doesn't have an ugly, milky cloudy ring
yup Hesalite also wears better / closer to the wrist. I thought I wanted the open case back & worried about scratches to the hesalite. Those worries proved unfounded. It was my daily wear for over a year & I do not baby it, or worry about it. If I ever do something stupid, this is the cure-all There are millions of Hesalite vs. sapphire sandwich blogs/articles/opinions. Read them, but try both on @ Bellagio before making your decision.
Thank you, I think Omega says it’s supposed to match the wood on “Sailboats” but like the 60 plus foot beautiful sailboats that some people in this thread may own.
CasiOak back on the shelves, if anyone missed out Spoiler https://shop.hodinkee.com/products/g-shock-ga2100-1a1-in-black
Wait Rolex completely replaced the 39mm Explorer with the 36? What the fuck? I get that it's period correct but I own a 36mm (tonneau case so I think it wears a bit larger) and it is SMALL by today's standards.
Well I knew they added it, but I didn't know they completely replaced the 39. That's funny because a lot of people thought they would introduce a 41. I wonder if my 214270 increased in value.
