Only saw it live and a few replays but it looked like it was a punch (with his stick in hand) more than getting him w the stick. Either way I hope he gets suspended only to highlight how dumb the league is
this couldn’t have have been handled worse if Gary had just pulled random actions & punishments out of a hat as he went along
So we are almost assuredly getting TB/FLA in the first round, which is absolutely amazing. It’ll easily be the series I’m most looking forward to in the first round. My hope is to somehow get Vegas/Minnesota in the first round because they play some fun games but it seems unlikely at this point. If we can get Toronto and Montreal, that will suffice for me, but I am going to be greedy and demand Vegas/Minnesota. The East is going to be long pants hockey no matter who gets in, but selfishly I want Washington/Boston because I think Boston wins that series and I need that pick to be as high as possible.
I don't know anyone in Chicago who wants him replaced on local broadcasts. He's better on local though for sure
clown league manfred has been trying to steal the crown from bettman but bettman just hit manfred with an rko outta nowhere
What if a player makes the same comments as the NYR statement and rips the league? Would they get the same fine??
It’s utterly insane that the Rangers would have been far better off to just let some nobody 2 hand him across the wrists and end his season
The league got like two days of good PR for getting a non joke broadcasting deal before Bettman and his squad of good ol boys had to make the league an embarrassment once again.
but according to their fanbase, they are just a 3 game win streak from being right back in the race...
Buchnevich probably deserved more. But since Wilson got off so easily, giving him anything substantial would’ve been a nightmare for the league. Greater evidence that when you fuck up once, it has a domino effect. And if you’re gonna fuck up, you’re better off skewing more aggressive with the punishment, because your fallback can always be “I’m looking out for player safety”.
My hunch is the first time these two teams play at MSG next season will be a shit show. Probably not to the same extent as last night, but it’ll be the game where the Rangers decide to show their new found grit.
Sens fan base might actually riot if they didn’t match. Finally looking like they have most of their rebuild pieces in place and it seems like he’s going to be their future captain. Kinda have a hard time seeing the Rangers doing it though. In the next two years they have Mika, Fox, Shesterkin, and Lindgren due for probably close to 20 million in raises and I don’t think they’d give up picks to let any of those guys go.
Wendel Clark was not a goon but the nordiques made that horrific sundin trade to get more grit on their team. that cost the avalanche 2-3 Stanley cups and gifted a few to the wings
I can see a team approaching Ottawa at some point and saying we will offer sheet BT and he will sign it… or we can work out a trade. If the old man gets his way and forces this it’s not out of the realm. Although he loves the group and will be the captain.
such a shame that this ownership is a total clown show. This team could be incredible if they keep that young core together.
Dolan’s quotes in this article are simply fascinating. Literally everything he says suggests he’d make a change to the head coaching position and not the front office, but apparently logic isn’t involved. https://nypost.com/2021/05/06/james-dolan-chris-drury-the-right-guy-to-lead-the-rangers/
I like the Canes but they give up a ton of chances. No way they get out of the central unless Mrazek goalies a couple of teams
