I’ll post this again with the ongoing size debate re: 36mm vs 41mm - Both will likely work. It comes down to what you prefer. I have a 6.8” wrist. I have a Speedy Pro, Tudor GMT, and this is my 34mm OP:
42mm Tudor Chrono vs 36mm vintage datejust. Below average wrist size. I’ve been on the “list” since release for the 36mm red coral.
I've stanned so hard for the Swatch Group and my month old Khaki Field Mechanical breaks on a manual wind with next to no pressure on the crown at the time. Fucking bullshit. Thankfully I have a warranty but this will be way more hassle than it's worth for a $400 watch.
Got my wife the new Pasha. It's pretty incredible in person with the leather band. Simple but has a significant presence to it.
Beautiful watch. Cartier probably has one of the more distinguished looks on the market. I’m a big fan of the Santos-Dumont. They have an easy switch band which makes it easy to switch from leather to metal.
Love it! Tried selling the wife on several Cartier timepieces, but something else caught her eye... She deferred a Rolex AND a Cartier Love bracelet
I'm curious...at what age did everyone get into watches? I've generally always had a watch, but it was just a watch for a watch's sake. I'm turning 40 this year, and it's only been within the past few years that I've actually started "caring" about horology.
Back in middle and HS we would go to Books a Million or Barnes & Noble and I would look at watch magazines. I was a nerd at an early age.
I bought what I’d call my first “real” watch at 35, and that was just a Seiko SKX009K1. I enjoyed learning about what mechanical watches were and how movements and levels of finish differed.
I was really young. One of my grandfathers had a Sub & he'd let me try in on when I visited. I have worn a watch constantly for as long as I can remember.
Bought a vintage 1957 Rolex dateJust 6605 at an auction yesterday. Per the auction house, it is 100% genuine but taking it to a buddy who is a local AD just to be sure. Worth a shot.
I got this watch as a gift when I was little and wore it everyday for years. Always noticed non calculator watches or digital watches but I grew up in a lower middle class/middle class area. So nice watches always stood out to me. My dad was practical with his watches because he was a cop, my stepdad was a nerd and had digital watches.
My wrist must have expanded with the warmer weather, just added a link each to my 2 oysters. The Bergeron 1.6mm screwdriver works perfectly.
There really hasn't been anything that has made me feel more mechanically inadequate than trying to resize metal bands. Even with the goddamn kit
Since this could obviously happen to any of us that lose or get a watch stolen: "You need to file it in the international stolen jewelry database - we can do that for you. It takes 48 hours. If it turns up at a pawn shop or police station globally it will be ceased and eventually returned. The likelihood of this happening is extremely rare but of course it is worth doing." That's all I've got user15000 - wish I could have been more help, they will send you some merch though after you call them. So you've got that going for you.
Also, if you've documented your watches and their appraisals with your insurance carrier (mine has copies of the paperwork on file) they'll usually do this for you right away once you call in the claim. That's how I heard that such a database even existed.
I accidentally ordered two of those black g shocks. If anyone wants one I’ll send it for $100 shipped if not it’s going to the highest bidder on stockx which is currently $108. Getting here tomorrow
This is a big chunky watch but if anyone is ever thinking of a Zelos do it. Very well made and they obviously have slimmer options but they do well with their bronze versions and can’t be beat at their price point. Great dials
Pretty stoked... gonna drag her in to look at watch boxes for me & have them bring the watch out instead Spoiler
Funny story... Jorts and I were at the store looking at watches for me and rings for my wife. AD says hold on, something came in. She went to the back and brought out a watch that looked just like the above but it was wrapped up in plastic and paper. She thought it was his wife's watch but he quickly let her know that it was lime 2mm smaller or some shit. He didn't hold it and only saw it from like 6 feet away while it was wrapped up. No clue how he could tell the difference in size from that distance.
If you’re in the watch game, millimeters matter and you can tell the difference fairly easily with experience.
