If Fields lights us up on the Thanksgiving... the honeymoon for Holmes/Campbell will be over for a lot of people.
Honestly, though, what's the upside in subjecting America to that? At least the Rams you have the back story that the announcers can riff on for a couple hours after things get out of hand. Why waste a GB primetime game on us and make us wait for that?
Pain. I’ll be in Greece (hopefully) for this game, so I’ll watch it early the next day. Should be a good game to fast forward through in 30 minutes.

He and Sewell have a relationship from the Oregon connection, and unless we're getting something like a 4th rounder for him (very unlikely) I'd kind of prefer we keep him and he competes for the other guard spot with Vaitai. Don't really see why he couldn't be a solid starter at guard.
Based on Hurst already being waived once, I wonder how much of it was the NFL not thinking he would be a great NFL player vs. potential heart issue
He’s in a contract year with $2M due this year and we have no intentions of bringing him back. I just don’t think we have the room and are unlikely to get offers to unload Vaitai’s contract so he’s the odd man out. We drafted the two guards last year and Vaitai is moving inside anyway. I think if we could unload Vaitai’s contract, Crosby would be in a different spot with us.
I think there's a pretty high likelihood we unload Vaitai in the next 12 months, anyway. He's on the roster this year. This regime didn't sign him. If it's possible Crosby is better, they should play Crosby. I don't know if he is or not, and if they don't think he is they should trade him if they can get something.
Flowers at OLB is the opposite of what I would have expected. I thought they might move him inside before going outside. We had better be at least a decent run D with what amounts to a 5-man DL, though.
I don't get it. Seems like pass rush and coverage aren't really his strengths. Also what does this mean of Romeo? Seems like he'd be the outside guy/dpr. Before this news I would have guessed a dline of Flowers/McNeil/Brockers with Levi in the rotation and Romeo standing up at olb.
Think it means a Onwuzurike/McNeil/Brockers DL with Flowers and Okwara standing up when they're in base D. I don't know how often they plan to be in base D, though. I'm guessing part of the equation that is unknown is how good Onwuzurike and McNeil are. Either way, it is kind of interesting to me that this feels like a "we'll put Flowers where we don't have people and see what happens" situation more than "Flowers is the best defensive player on the team and we'll build around that" situation. I think the chances Flowers ends up being cut after the season are higher now than if they kept him at DL.
Yeah, I get that part. It was more about an indictment on how they view Flowers as a player. Basically he's not part of their plans but they're stuck with his contract thing. No professional is looking at his skill set and thinking he's a perfect fit for OLB. Hopefully, he's at most a 2 down guy there and the other Okwara gets some legit run this season.
I think he still has a lot of value as an inside pass rusher on passing downs, and would expect he plays a lot there. Brockers is more of a 2-down guy, and it would be a very pleasant surprise if Levi and McNeil are on his level enough as pass rushers to keep him off the field there.
Holmes did a pod with Robert Mays at The Athletic that's really good. I've said it before, but whoever is in charge of PR making sure they put Holmes and Campbell out there for all these interviews to show off how likeable they are is doing a good job. Also, Birkett wrote that a "Lions' source" said the Matt Campbell report the other day about turning down 8/$70M or whatever is wrong and he was never officially offered anything. Whatever that means.
Breer says we spoke to Matt Campbell a few times but never in person. We did have a plane ready to go to visit him but Campbell withdrew his name before the Lions could visit, and no offer was ever made.
