They've been a part of it for a while and prior to an exclusive niche category Jeff used to tailor questions to the guests. The personal aspect to all of the characters is what makes this competition more entertaining than your average trivia match. Its fun to see things like Carl study up on anime. Last night Donny knew both anime questions even though it's kenjacs category. Each team has an equal opportunity to zero in on something they feel confident about. Don't pick a giant category that your opponents see all the time like a sport, get creative and play the game.
I don’t find Carl studying anime to be entertaining. Part of the fun in watching trivia is guessing the answers yourself and nobody watching Barstool trivia knows what anime is.
Dave summed it up pretty well in the play in game when he said “That’s not trivia, that’s just a weird thing he does” in reference to Tommy knowing every country on the globe.
I disagree about it not being entertaining watching Carl rack his brain for an old anime movie but I get what you're saying
riggs trying to host the NCAA tournament is cool. doubtful it becomes an official tournament, but letting them play without eligibility issues would be cool.
I think they probably know there’s no chance it will ever happen, but it’s good pr just to say they’re making an effort and dunking on an entity in the NCAA that is more unanimously detested than them. I don’t see the NCAA being cooperative in helping barstool make them look like shit (even though everyone already knows they are shit). Edit: lol talk about bad timing for this take. Good for them that it’s actually happening.
Team Chicago got so fucked with the categories in their match. It was like every player on the other team got their niche. Should have at least threw a baseball category in.
Is Dan Campebell the first PMT guess to call PFT "Eric" on the show? A number have called Big Cat "Dan" but first time a guest hasn't called him by his pseudonym.
maybe i'm dumb but it's not like the teams are going to qualify for anything by winning this. so i don't get why it's that surprising
Schools can pay for them to go. Typically the NCAA isn't fond of benefits, especially those that arose out of their own mishandling of something.
Yeah I am shocked the NCAA is allowing anything official much less official and hosted by barstool. I guess they figured the fallout from saying NO would be worse than allowing it.
I would expect this turns into a yearly tournament broadcasted on multiple outlets to highlight the women's game
If you watch the videos you can tell he’s looking at a different screen. For Kaycee to be a college football expert she didn’t know shit about them questions yesterday.
Jeff tried to help his buddies on Frank's team with the world capital question. Still didn't matter. That was an awesome match of The Dozen.
World capitals is their niche category though. Unless you’re referring to the weird overtime round with a random list of world events and attractions that didn’t seem to make sense (e.g. Downtown Charleston and Myrtle Beach being on there)?
he also seemed to be very aware of his style of humor and online schtick. Made me laugh thinking of an active NFL coach following PFT closely on twitter and laughing at endless Hitler jokes Campbell already struggling with the two point conversion decision wasn't the best sign
Yes - it was very obvious that Jeff wanted his boys (KB and Nick) to win. That was such a BS move to take that point from XYZ
I think Gary Bussey was the other person to call him Eric. The best part about Dan Campbell was he acknowledged halfway through he was PFT commenter and still called him Eric again.
