How old is DJ? Does the timing work out for Uncle Billy to be the dad from when Erin stayed with him 3 years ago?
This. When Mare looked at the Rolling Rock bottle I assumed she was gunna snag it after Billy left suddenly to run a DNA test
It does feel very much like many of the British crime dramas. The only thing missing is calling Mare a DCI.
When the dad and son were having their secret convo I was thinking it was something far more nefarious than infidelity.
I hate those types of misdirects, and it certainly appeared that his wife was concerned more about something related to the kid than she was herself. That's cheap intrigue, IMO.
Dylan is wearing a kung fu necktie (bar a block away from me in philly) hoodie in the preview, hope it’s not him
Can anyone refresh my memory on something way earlier in the series? Mare was checking a home security system (I think it was the deceased woman's from the most recent episode?). She saw someone on the video, then deleted all of it. Who was it in the video?
The son told his mom that dad is cheating on her again. And then they made it a point to mention that Frank and his fiancée are having issues and the wedding may be off. They could be entirely unrelated though. Or maybe the fiancée found something out about Frank.
Oh yeah that would also make total sense. Forgot that Mare made a scene in front of the entire household.
I remember the part about the affair, but I missed the mention that Frank and his fiancée were having troubles. Thanks.
I just started watching this last episode and I wanna believe that I’ve always thought that Kate Winslet is beautiful and nuanced actress but I’m gonna say it out loud itt. What a fucking treasure this woman is
I assume the diary is just gonna be something about how Dylan agreed to say he’s the dad so Billy doesn’t look like a pedo creep? No clue what that picture was though. Also I can’t remember how Erin was related to Billy. I thought someone had killed Freddie and planted evidence to make it look like he killed Erin. So glad they didn’t go that route.
Erin is Billy’s cousin. I don’t know why Mare has to do everything alone. It is so stupid to go to the woods alone to confront a murderer and a murderer’s friend.
Whew tonight’s episode was brutal and I thought they were about to top it off with a dead four year old
That’s some dark ass TV- and well done. I wonder if it isn’t billy but the other brother that’s the dad? Seems too easy for it to be Billy. The discussion between the two brothers was only about whether he killed her, not at all about- dude you fucked your underaged cousin? And the receipt said Ross- the last name only- no first name. And, we know he fucks around on his wife so... I’m just saying, maybe there’s more to this story. And, what would make the sheriff so adamant about getting Mare on the phone after what he saw from Erin’s BFF? Whatever, maybe I’m looking for that last episode shocker that we’re used to and tin foil hatting all this. But, there’s clues there. EDIT: AND billy said “I’m holding him account for his own actions, no one else ever has.”
Still confused about where this puts Dylan on the night of the murder at 2am and still don’t think Father Mark’s story is complete yet
Starting to think maybe the deacon has been a red herring this entire time. Like he obviously talked to her and met with her that night, but he just dumped the bike because he was worried about it making him look guilty (which obviously was a dumb move either way).
I tend to agree. Just not sure what his involvement would be exactly. I was thinking the only reason they brought up his cheating was to maybe somehow link him with Erin and her baby. But in reality it could have just been to get him to his dad’s house and to find out about Billy and the blood from the night of the murder.
Im starting to think maybe John and Billy killed her because she was gonna out Billy as the dad. Billy maybe went along with it but is torn apart- hence the drinking and weird behavior and such. Then John convinced Billy to take the fall since he created the mess. And it’s possible Billy has that gun to protect himself because he’s scared of John. I don’t think that is an old cop gun that was in the tackle box.
