Given one rule I could change about policing, I am not sure if I would make all civil payout come from police pensions or qualified immunity.
I feel like hitting their wallets will have a more broad impact because one shithead can fuck a lot of their coworkers in one moment.
It's a double-edged sword. On one hand, cops might work to get rid of shitty cops that impact their bottom line, but the far more likely scenario based on centuries of policing is cops will turn even more of a blind eye to bad police if it comes out of their pockets.

"We'll represent you, we'll be there for you, absolutely. Unless you don't hold up your end of the bargain," said Lisa Titus, who was part of the committee that wrote this plan. "But we'll also hold you accountable. It is a big shift, and it's going to take some time."
If they actually follow through on this, it would be huge. Police leadership, unions, and officers covering for the shit officers is one of the main roots of the problems we have.
It's kind of hard to tell from the video, but it looked like he was being pretty careful trying not to hit an officer with his car.
The same people defending the cops “having” to shoot the guy driving toward them also want to make it legal to drive your car into a crowd of protestors.
This kind of shit happens a lot more than you'd like to think. The Feds seem to like to make patsies out of vulnerable people who may not have the best beliefs but aren't likely to committing shootings/terror attacks.
had this conversation with my son the other day. I used to get really nervous around cops still do a little but not as much anymore. Age I guess the main reason. But, my son is young kinda big and has a bunch of tattoos. Well we were driving and saw a cop car and I told him : “You ever get stopped it’s yes sir no sir keep your hands on wheel because those motherfuckers will kill you and get away with it. All they have yo say is they were afraid “ . Had this conversation with him and my nephew countless times. My son looks mixed to where you don’t know what he is my nephew is mixed too but he looks black. I kinda helped raise him because his dad bounced when he was a kid.
Don't quote me on this - but also pretty sure that go-pros with some absurd amount of storage are exponentially cheaper than what most police departments utilize. I know mountain climbers that have fewer issues seemingly than police on maintaining consistent view and recording.
It's ridiculous. And I've said it 100 times in these threads. PD need to carry insurance. Every precinct. Every officer. How are cities expected to pick up the bill everytime cops fuck shit up. Even if they're found not guilty in the criminal trial. Every industry has to carry some form of insurance to protect their work from their own employees and the public I dont see how it's any different.
well I had prepared myself for disappointment because Jackson County, FL jurors and the prosecutor wasn't the best, but not a terrible result. They found him guilty on the RICO charge, and three of the stops. Got him for official misconduct, possession, false arrest, and a couple other things related to his drug-planting scheme. I lost count but either 17 or 19 of the 67 charges he was facing he was found guilty of. Feel for some of the victims who I had zero doubts about their side of the story.. especially the ones where the body camera had a malfunction or 'somehow' went missing. Jury seemed to need to see obvious holes in the story via bodycamera Watching the trial a bit more, this asshole would start humming or whistling christmas carols right before he "found" drugs.. like middle of June in Florida and he's humming 'wish you a merry christmas' and oh look found drugs..again. it was obviously a game for him and some of his buddies. No doubt at least one of the other officers was in on it, but there is no way to prove it. Anyway at some point my heart melted a bit and I actually felt some sympathy for this jackass and his family after getting sucked up into this case. To be seen whether I'll send him a yearly Christmas card in the middle of summer.
also in every case he smelled marijuana which initiated his probable cause search which his victims were more than happy to allow every case he found meth. almost every case had the same type of baggie or syringe, the same types that were later found in his squad car just remarkably reprehensible and hard to watch from a dude who wanted to impress his cop Daddy and make the narcotics unit of this sheriff's department of a county with less than 50k people I believe this case didn't get more national attention because it highlighted basically every problem with treating drug use as a criminal matter
karen thread imo. He tried to or did hit the cop with the car obviously not hard. Being white and in Canada he was arrested for that as he should have been. Here if he was black he’d been gunned down.
