I’d like to know how much of it is deteriorating skills and how much of it is on purpose in an effort to make a group sound
He has definitely purposely stepped back to leave more room for others. Part of that has to do with his complete 180 with his ego after sobriety and the humbleness that came with it. For 3.0 to work it was going to have to be this way to an extent. The other part is he just isn't capable of shredding anymore.
They (all of them, not just Trey) were tighter for sure in those days (though their repertoire was more limited) but the venues were also smaller and they were much louder. Everyone talks about 1.0, 2.0, 3.0... but around late 93 / early 94 the audience experience seeing them live changed dramatically just because the venues were so much different. Seeing them in a club or small theater in those years was intense -- they were so in your face -- and that changed when they were playing hockey arenas and huge festivals 2 years later. Anyway, Trey could probably still do "it" (all the intricate stuff) if they pared down their setlists to just shit off of Gamehenge, their first 4 albums, and easy as shit to play covers like Yamar or Curtis Lowe, but that would mean losing all that space in his brain currently taken up by the 150 dad rock songs he's written since then, and playing smaller venues with easier to manage sound
FYI, unless I'm late, looks like public ticket sales ("requests?") just opened up. https://www.goosetheband.com/tour
I put in for night 2 in Austin and also DFW. I live in DFW but will likely be in Austin that weekend for Texas' home game vs KU. no idea what ends up happening but YOLO
Good call. Get em while they’re hot. This is the tour that will end up launching Goose into the upper tier jamband stratosphere
Agree. Spreading their tour locations out in the fall and they are getting higher billing on festivals coming up. They will be tough ticket next year
Side note. Folks jumped on phish tickets first, so Goose tix for fall May be a little easier. they sold out May and June pretty quick, but that was before Phish tour.
I take that back, I think I’ve hit one time, but that’s about it. No matter, I will be ready to march into battle Friday morning. Just another roll of the dice.
Friend of mine got 4 4-days for Vegas and 4 for both ATL shows (all spoken for). I got shut out. I'm pissed.
Yeah, it’s just weird how it will fill some folks 4 show $2,000 order but won’t even throw a poor sap a single lawn for a 1 show entry. I wanna see the algorithm damnit!!
Put in for 4 2-day passes for each night in Atlanta and got shutout. Brother got 2 lawns for Sunday. Thankfully we’ve already got Oak Mountain, Nashville, and Dicks. I’m already preparing myself for paying exorbitant fees for Saturday night. Maybe things will work out during the general Friday, but that’s going to be such a shitshow.
Planning to be in ATL regardless, not gonna be the first time hunting tix on lot. If all else fails I'll stream it in a hotel room or something.
I keep trying to consider that Phish might come out and kill it right off the bat. But I know that’s most likely not true. We lost that cush mid-tour positioning for Bham>ATL. However, I think the layoff and crazy post-pandemic energy will carry it. We lose the warmup shows but we gained the first back elation. Not to take anything away from Arkansas and Oak Mtn, but Alpharetta is effectively going to be first shoes back in a sense. Anchor of the southern leg, first weekend shows, Sunday Jerry birthday show. And it’s just different there. Vibe is going to be palpable. Probably going to be lots of tears. When Tweezer drops in Alpharetta the shed is gonna come apart.
I had 4 pits in my cart that it just refused to let me purchase and ended up with nothing That’s quite frustrating.
How often do you not see tickets available for face or less for shows? I remember several times where Ticketmaster sells out right away but the day of the show you can't even give tickets away. Wrigley shows being examples. That may be more of a Wrigley Field thing though because scalpers are all over events there
